HI,

I just got my Prism, Omnisky Modem, and Stowaway keyboard. Everything is working pretty good so far, execpt for a couple fatal crashes.

The only problem that I cannot figure out, is with the stowaway. Everytime I go to use the stowaway, I cannot type. I have to go, click on the stowaway icon, and UNCHECK, and then CHECK "Enable Stoway".

If I do that, it works fine.

Any ideas?

Are you connecting the Prism to the Stowaway with the power OFF, then turning the power on once the Prism is in place? If not, doing so should solve your problem.

Beg to differ. I (always) have my VPR's "Beam Receive" in "Off" mode and have no problem with the Stowaway.

Hmmm.....maybe they fixed that problem with the new driver.

Sorry, we have 2 different conversations going on here. I meant that he was right that I needed to turn the prism power "off" before attaching in to the keyboard.

robrink, I know for sure what's your problem. It's not IR recieve or anything.

I had this problem with my Visor Deluxe as well.

According to the Targus FAQs, this happens (on all Visors) when you install some program that took over the Visor's COM port.

It's very easy to fix this - delete the Stowaway keyboard driver and then re-install it (whether via beaming or HotSync)and it should work with no problems after that.

Also, be aware that your Visor needs to be OFF before you connect it to the Stowaway. If it is ON when you connect it, you'll have to turn the Visor on and off again and the keyboard should be detected automatically.

Tell me if the above steps work for you.
