You should get a huge diamond tipped buzzsaw and shred the car, when done find the penny in the debris.

You can then use the penny towards a new car...

Truthfully, haven't even tried yet...wait to get my spirits high enough to try the C4 idea...!

Actually, I'm just too lazy to do it right now. Thanks for the ideas, though!

Not really, no. Tho if he detonated a booger-sized amount that would slap that penny right out of there..!

I'm gonna bring this thread up out of the dead:

A while ago, my dad got the penny out by some careful means (carefully prying it up) - however, the cigaratte lighter is still not working...oh well. The car won't last much longer, anyway.

Well, at least you got the penny out. Up here in Canada (aka, untamed northern wilderness), an american penny can fetch about $5000 of our local money...and that can buy you quite a few cigeratte lighters...
Alex.

Funny thing, one kid at school transformed my nickname (I use it in Half Life and what not a lot) into Tush Toucher...I promptly replied by getting on of our international students from Japan, Fumi, she's so cool, to tell him that tantousha in Japanese means "the superior one" ...
Alex.

P.S. Re-reading that it sounds a little harsh, sorry, just wanting to inform with a little story, I actually had a good laugh when you posted that because it reminded me of that.

why do you need a cigarette lighter anyway?

and if you do smoke, consider this 'malfunction' your first step to a better, healthier life!

Let me re-word that. The DC Voltage adapter on the car. I don't have the 'cigaratte lighter' that goes into it, and I don't smoke, never have. I use the adapter though to plug in my ham radio, my cell phone, my palm...

I am making due with a portable DC battery that I bought at a Ham Radio store...I charge it up every couple days with an AC adapter, and it works fine. It's about as big as two and a half visors (width, not length) put together side-by-side.

I am really disappointed, there must be a lot of "younger" generation engineers involved in this thread.

The only usefull method is DUCT TAPE !

There are several solutions:

1) Put duct tape over the cigarette lighter so that you can't see the penny.
2) Put duct tape around the penny to avoid a shortcircuit
3) Put duct tape over the opening of the cigarette lighter, turn the car upside down, remove duct tape and the penny should be attached to the glue
4) put duct tape around tweezers (screwdriver) to avoid shortcircuit when you try to reach the penny.
5) put duct tape around your finger to remember that you cannot use the cigarette lighter.
6) use duct tape to attach a disposable lighter to the steering wheel.
7) use duct tape to seal your wallet so it will not happen again.
8) glue pennies together in a roll of duct tape
9) cut the cable to the charger, attach cable directly to car battery and insulta with duct tape.
10) attach a small piece of duct tape to a pencil, with the glue to the outside, push pencil into cigarette lighter gently onto the penny (remove fuse first) and lift penny out of lighter (glued to duct tape).

I am sure somebody will find some more uses for duct tape.
