Isn't Life Ironic
I just bought a Treo 90 on Monday from Best Buy to replace my 2nd m505 that went bad on me. I just returned from Best Buy a few minutes ago with a Visor Edge that I exchanged the Treo for.
I kinda liked the Treo, if nothing else for it's size and weight, I barely knew I had it in my pocket. But I couldn't handle the small thumboard with my big thumbs and I didn't like how the screen was barely useable in direct sunlight.
I had two choices in which handheld to get in place of the Treo, the Edge or a Clie T-615. Yeah I know that most of you would say go with the Sony. And I probably would have except for three things.
One, yeah sure I liked having a color screen, but it really wasn't necessary for me. Yes, it did make DateBk 5 a little more useful, but that was marginal at best. Two, since I had a Visor Deluxe I have loved the included apps that Handspring provided. I didn't use DateBook+ much but I did use the Advanced Calculator a lot (I really loved all of the conversions it could do)and CityTime was great for seeing what time it was in a world hot spot. Three, the buttons, besides the jog dial, on the Sony are just plain bad. I love the fact that the Edge has real buttons, which will make the no-stylus mode of HandyShopper easy to use while in the grocery store.
So now I get home and check VisorCentral and see that the Edge has been discontinued. Oh well I guess I was just late to the show. I just wish that Handspring would have had the guts to release a color screened Edge, now that would have been quite the handheld.
