Do people like the clear or black clip better for a Visor Prism? That's what's really holding me up, I like the idea of a clear clip but I don't know if it'd look right on a dark Visor.

I personally like the clear clip on the prism alot. It blends into the color of the prism, and you really don't notice it much.

Dear Jim,

hey - wow this really sounds good and interesting! I love your flip clip you did a really good job on it and I am really looking forward to the clear lid! Keep us informed, when it will be available.
And I am also waiting for your "surprise".

Take care
Chris

Thumbs down sorry to be negative

I hate for my first post here to be a negative one, but I have had nothing but bad luck with my Tactilis flip clip. First, it came either molded improperly or bent, and it would never stay put on my Blue Visor Deluxe. Everytime I opened the lid it either slid off or out of place. I glued it down, and that worked fine for a little while. Then the bend was so big that it made the glue come off on one side. I didn't mind just throwing the clip away altogether, but the glue left ugly little marks and scratches on the top corners of my Visor. I decided to see if Tactilis would exchange my bent clear clip for a new black one in the hopes that it would fit better and hide the marks from the glue. I sent two emails about two weeks ago and haven't heard back from Tactilis. I gave up trying to get a new clip and got some stronger gel glue. It held the clip down flat for a few days and seemed to work fine. I was content, even with the nasty glue marks on my Visor showing through the clear clip. Then the Palm III lid started to crack from the pressure of being in my pocket and not fitting flush with my Visor. Plus, yet again, the bend in the clip was stronger than the glue. If I had been stacking books on the thing, I wouldn't feel so bad, but I can't imagine that the lid would be as flimsy as it is. One positive thing I will say is that if I could get a replacement black flip clip that worked, I wouldn't hesistate to buy the Tactilis lid when it comes out.

Back in town...

Well, I spent all last week in California meeting with the heavy hitters about the future of our products. (I'll let your mind wander on who that might be) Before leaving, I thought it would safe to take my "visor-modem-stowaway-multimail" combo to keep up with the rigors of maintain adequate customer service. Well as murphys law dictates, my visor crashed on day one ( I will refrain from comment on which module caused this! ) , leaving me with a week old backup on my backup module. Needless to say this left me with out my customer database, support e-mail, and a few other things I put on there just before the trip. So now I'm playing catch-up with the emails once again. So if you have sent emails, please bear in mind that I'm plowing through them (150+) and hope to answer them all before Friday.

(espectro: this means you too , ;') I'm sure your at the end of that pile but I'll get to you! It sounds like you need a whole new order. I'll get right on a replacement. expect to hear from me tomorrow. )

And for everyone else, my apologies for the delay. Good things will come of all of this!

P.S. Our new website and server is just days away from launch!

Wonderful! Like I said, I believe it's a great product, I just think I got a bad clip. It happens. I look forward to the Tactilis lid.

Exclamation Great product, but can break

Sastian, do you have any prevention tips for us users?

A few weeks ago I too experienced stress cracks on the edges of the lid at mid length. I had no idea why exactly but assumed most likely due to curve of lid instead of being flush. Wasnt much of a problem, mostly asthetics. I wished it was flat to keep things from getting under the lid and harming the screen but could live with it.

Unfortuneatly, today it got worse. I grabbed my VDx from my laptop bag to find that lid pin that connects to the clip broke off and no the lid no attaches.

Can I get a replacement lid (don't recall warranty policy) or can I use any PalmIII lid in a store?

Google, problems with stress cracks seem to occur when the lid is carried in a tight fitting case. Please e-mail us your name, address, and color preference for replacement. We are really looking forward to having our Visor specific Flip-Lid on the market. Thanks for your patience and feedback.

Wink Great product, but can break revised

Sorry for the misinfo. I realize the cause of the stress cracks were caused by me putting the VDx with FlipLid into my pants pocket. My fault for not expressing this clearly. Tactilis is not at fault - it is a PEBPaC (Problem Exists Between Palm and Chair) error. Hope I didn't sound like a whiner..not entended if so.

I recall the web site said the early production lids would have a slight curve and later runs would lessen -- so I (we) can't have any complaints.

It is still an inexpensive, well designed cover that fits the need.

Got mine today!

I ordered the ice combo and its on my ice VDX. Pros and cons so far:

Pros:
never have to take cover off to use it
cool star trek look
very easy to open
clicks in up position
can hot-sync with it on
does not add much thickness

cons:
had to file down a bump made during the manufacturing process to make it fit. The bump was in the middle of the clip and prevented it from seating properly. Works fine now.
The cover is not "true" ice color. Its a little off, kinda darker and less translecent.
flip cover is not as strong as regular snap cover. It flexes a lot.
big gap between the edge of the visor and the lid, lets more crud in.
won't fit in VDX slip case now

But, for $10, its not a bad buy. I will be useing this lid until my Vaja case arrives, and then i'll sell this baby to the highest bidder. Also, anyone want a ice snap cover? :-)

Hey.. I love my Flip CLIP. The clip barley comes off, and hasn't scratched up my plat. BUT the Palm III lid has done 2 things

1) Cracked.. (not badly.. more internally.. just little lines around the edges.. annoyoing but nothing wrong functuanly(sp))

2) the corners of the Palm 3 lid where they touch the visor at the bottom of my visor, have completly rubbed the paint off of it. NOw actually that doesn't look as bad, as my previous plat. where my paint scratches were randon and ugly. I do understand that Tactillis has a warning on there manuel.. and I don't hold them resonsible.. Actually I dopn't really care.. It's just a bit annoying.

Question Hello?

Hi... it's me again. I was just noticing how this thread was slowing to a crawl. Where has Tactilis been lately? tactilis.com has not been updated since January, and it seems that 'Re-Visor' has somehow dropped off the face of the earth once again. Anyway, I can't wait until the Flip-Lid comes out. The suspense is killing me, sastian!

I was wondering the same thing. After reading the review on the FlipClip and Cover I've been anxiously waiting for FlipLid to be available for my Prism.

I was also looking at the FlipCover by DesignOvation... anyone want to compare the two?

Wink Suspense is killing us too!

We are really pushing to get not one, but 2 new products out the door!!! (best used car commercial echo used in the past sentence) As well as working on a new site on a new server. The last one stunk! (timed out all the time) I have been kinda putting more effort into the new site rather than working on the existing one. So we have a slew of new feature coming in the new implementation, such as a tighter store integration, the arrival of Paypal functionality & better product info. Not to mention that our techs are insuring us a fast flawless execution of the transaction portion. We are working hard to improve on all the things that you have been mentioning to us. expect more announcements soon!

Lightbulb FlipHolster?

Has Tactilis ever considered a "holster" for the visor similar to the Handspring Plastic Belt Clip, but in the Tactilis colors and accomidating the FlipClip and FlipLids? I'd really like something simple like the Handspring holder, but all reviews I've read on the product agree that the clip is so weak it actually endangers Visors. I'm not going to put my money into something that is virtually guaranteed to drop my Visor. The thought of a streamlined FlipClip/holster makes me drool. Think of it...purple, green, blue....from belt to being in hand and powered up in seconds....and only needing one hand at that!

Anyone else got any thoughts on what you'd like to see for the ultimate in FlipClip compatible holders/cases?

Lightbulb we have looked into that.

actually we have been concidering a few differrent options but we will make sure to announce as soon as somethng is finalized. currently we are pushing to get the Flip-Lid out the door. At our current size, we'll tackle one project at a time to insure the quality and attention to detail the need. This will help us get to a line of products that will all be the simplest to use, due to the thought, planning and testing that will go into each one. ;')

Do you guys actually have C/S department? How do I do a return? I entered an order on the Tactilis site, and got an error. Sent three emails asking to cancel because I went with an EB Slipper. Sent an email to you (Sastian) from this board last week. No reponse at all.

In order to have a successful company, you'll have to satisfy all customers... even the ones with returns.

Question FlipLid colors

On the main/home page for Tactilis.com, a Prism is shown (in the group picture) with a purple or indigo lid. I can't tell which it is since the closeups of both of these lids look nothing like the group shot. Has anyone ordered either of these colors? Can you tell me which I want if I'm looking for a true purple?

Also, is the green shown really that bright, or is it just the photo?

Jim had refunded your purchase 3 days ago. Is there anything more we can do to make you happy. Again our apologies. We're still small enough that when I go out of town for business the CS gets delayed slightly. Although I can assure you that we get better at this with each passing day. Thanks for your understanding.

If you don't mind the snap-on, why?

Personally, I HATE the snap-on. ANd the snap on for the Prism is even worse than for VDX.
