Question Flip-cover and Flip-lid

Kinda of confusing trying to determine to which product is which:

May I suggest referring to them as:
1. Tactilus Flip-lid or T's Flip-Lid
2. Z's Flip-Cover

Personally, I like the Tactilus Flip-Lid concept. It's built AROUND the springboard slot which allows the accommodation of different module sizes and functions. The T's Flip-Clip must stay pretty snug to enable the opening and closing forces applied to the lid.

With the Z's Flip-cover, from the pictures it appears that you are restricted to a standard size springboard module. I'm not sure how the hinge is attached to the springboard. I read from previous postings that it's glued to the top of the module. Well, that will put some limits to Z's concept besides the standard module only.
Consider:
1. the SoundGood with the controls on top
2. any other springboards with access on the top on the module, like modems.
3. if you switch springboards often
4. other non-standard size modules which sadly appears to be the trend with the recent module sizes
5. IF the hinge is glued, I personally don't like glueing anything to my investments. With the hinge being only as wide as the module, I worry about the stability and the resistance to torque.

I may be wrong about some of the problems above, but those are the issues I see with Z's concept by looking at the pictures and reading the his website. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I wonder how many people just own Visor PDA'S with no SB modules like myself. I have several thid party software programs. I suspect that a substantial amount of people fall into this category. Personally, I favor the flip lid that will wrap all the way around to the back. When available I will be purchasing one that matches my Platinum. I can't believe Handspring sent these out with black covers.

Just to add another post to this rather long topic...

Sastian, do you know when you expect to be taking paypal payments on the website? I can see the little spot for where the link'll be, but it's not hooked up just yet.

I haven't received my product yet but I can tell you that so far Tactilis customer support is top notch. Can't wait until I get mine!

I have read four pages and, either I'm blind, or no one has asked yet. Will the flip clip hold the cover up while the Visor is attached to the Stowaway Keyboard (Palm III does)? Or, will we have to remove the cover each time we attach to the keyboard?

I asked this question earlier. Yes, it will hold the cover up. It supposedly works similarly to the way the Palm III covers work. I always liked that about my Palm III so I'm looking forward to it with this one. Although I am going to wait till the custom Visor covers are made before I order.

Question Has anyone received their order?

This seems like a great product, but has anyone bought one and used it yet aside from the creator?

LOL! Currently, no one (aside the from creator and several of the "beta-testing friends") has used it. We've posted that we would be begin shipping this week. However, UPS has scheduled our first "official" pick up for next Monday. (Although some are slipping out via manual delivery this week!) But, we are expecting that all orders placed by today will ship on or before Monday.

Tequila: Thanks for response. Was your question about Stowaway compatability posed in a different forum? I searched this one. I saw your question, but it LOOKED like it referred to the lid's closed position. (Think you asked if it snapped or was held in the closed position)? Anyway, so I'm clear, need to know: the Visor flip-lid IS compatible with the Stowaway, in that, you don't have to REMOVE the flip lid while you're typing? In other words, when the Visor is in the Stowaway, will the flip lid remain open as you type? Thanks.

Sastien: SOmeone here asked you what the difference between the current Palm III lids and the soon-to-be released Visor-specific lids will be. (One difference, I think, was that the Visor-specific lid will have a "clear" option. But your answer compared your flip lid with a competitor's flipover lid. So, what ARE the differences between the current Palm III type lid and the lids you expect to make available soon specific to the Visor. Thanks everyone for your patience with me.

Talking Color Combinations

What color combinations do you guys think would go well together besides the obvious. I was thinking the ashen graphite color would look spiffy on my blue VDx. I wonder if I order now I'll get it before next Friday...

Great product Tactilis!

Answer No. 1:
Yes the flip lid (and the Palm III lids we sell) will remain open as you type on a stowaway keyboard.

Answer No. 2:
The differences between the current palm III lid and the Flip-Lid.
the palm lid protects the screen and buttons with a bowing of the lid. our lid will fit flat and have a "pocket" for the buttons so the final product will have a flatter profile and tighter fit. We are also engineering a read-through capability with the lid closed. good for when alarms and such pop up and it only takes a glance. Our lid will not cover the microphone or the power buttons on any visor, and the lid will fit exactly to the visor in the dock or out. some of the styling will be different as well (ribbing on the side to match the visor)
and colors should be exact matches. there is more but I'll save that info for the release. watch the website for drawings soon.

Answer No. 3:
Shipping. we are scheduled to begin shipping on the 18th (Monday) UPS Ground which normally is 3 days tops

Answer No. 4:
Color Combinations. This will be fun when its up. we are building a product selector that will allow you to explore ALL of those combos. expect to see that up in the next week.

Sastian

I didn't want to e-mail you directly with this so I'll post it here. I am thinking of getting the Flip Clip for my BVDx. I think the graphite (the one for the Platinum) would look good on it. However, seeing something online is often different than in person. Do you think that graphite cover and a BVDx would look nice? I ask because I'm thinking of buying one this weekend to hopefully get before Christmas (I live in Indiana, so shipping shouldn't be a problem..).

Thanks Very Much!
