I agree with "markleetoo". Sounds like the error message that is generated when a PC does not have MSExcel installed.
As for being unable to HotSync, sounds like you might need to do a soft reset of your Visor and try again.
Would be nice to know what Visor you are using, what Operating System you are using and what connection method you are using (Serial/USB).
Once you give us some details, I am sure someone will be able to assist you.
