slim leather case

I use the handspring slim leather case.....no velcro, it's got a hard cover(like the one that comes with the visor) sewn in. I'll carry it in a pocket or in hand. I've spotted some newer 3rd party leather cases(the names escape me at the moment) that look really slick. the cover flips up vertically as opposed to the handsring case that opens like a book. They are a little pricey but I may end up dropping the cash for one.

I, too, must be always at the ready with my "quick-draw" Platinum. I've looked at countless belt cases, but always found a very protective case and a cheap belt clip or a great clip and an unprotective case. I created my very own HRdude Belt Clip Case! I took one of my slim, leather, generic PDA cases and used velcro to attach the Visor's stock plastic cover face-up in the case to hold my Plat. I then bought a swivel belt clip (usually for cell phones) from Best Buy for about $6 and used the included two-sided foam tape (and lots of Crazy Glue) to fasten it to a 2"x4" piece of plastic I found laying around the house. I cut a 2.25" slit in the bottom, outside cover of the case and positioned the plastic with the attached clip inside the cover. Using an exacto-knife, I cut a small circle in the leather to allow the clip button to stick out, and again Crazy Glued the slit and clip in place. PRESTO!!! I have a small, leather, belt clip case always at the ready with lots of protection. If I'm going to be especially active, I attach a 6" safety cord (from a pager I once used) to the case's zipper and clip the other end to my belt loop. I know I couldn't have purchased a better case.

Still searching for perfect solution...

I started off w/the Visor Deluxe and the Palm leather belt clip case, but since I upgraded to the Prism, the fit is tight and I'm looking for a better way. I really like the Handspring plastic belt clip for the Visor Deluxe - hopefully they will come out w/a version for the Prism. I definitely prefer a belt clip, as I don't always wear a belt. The cases w/belt loops or swivel clips wouldn't cut it for this reason. Also, my carrying solution must be quick and SAFE draw. Don't want to fumble around trying to silence the alarm and end up dropping my Prism!

I got a free bag from Palm at a conference. It's just a small bag big enough for my Visor with a velcro flap and a long cord for around my neck. It has a convenient clear plastic pouch in front for my ID card, another one in the back (great for business cards), a third one concealed in the front flap and two pen-sized pockets in back. It slips around my neck and then under my arm. A perfect shoulder holster for my Visor! Best of all - it was free!

Thorough Search Led To Sumdex GLH-804

Lost my VDL & GoType keyboard in the Landware case by accident. Purchased a Prism as replacement and added Stowaway keyboard, Thinmodem, Backup & 8mb Flash modules, and Talestuff travel "charger" battery box. Faced with where to put it all? My search led me to:

Sumdex's Travel Wallet holds it all securely and elegantly. Talestuff battery box and two sets of spare AA's fit perfectly in the external cellphone pocket. Prism in the Handspring slipcase and Stowaway fit in the PDA pouch--I removed the pouch's flap & velcro since they were unneeded for my usage. Thinmodem dongle slips into pouch alongside Prism, spare dongle adapter and phone cord slides in opposite side of travel wallet. Modules and Thinmodem slip into travel document/checkbook sections. A place for everything and everything in its place. Shortened the shoulder strap into a handgrip for carrying. Leather is heavy and durable. With this ensemble, I am the envy of my colleagues who carry laptops into meetings. For me the Sumdex is perfect!

Velcro can be your friend!

I am really impressed with the variety of workable solutions for carrying Visors & accessories. Unlike Helen, I have nothing on Velcro and have made several elegant and stylish Prism/accessory cases out of leather notebook cases. You buy a 3-ring leather notebook case with zipper closure. Make sure the rings are mounted on a separate plastic sheet so you can just slide the ring assembly out and discard it. You then lay down enough black, hook type velcro to completely cover the right cover of the notebook. This allows you to lay in all sorts of Handspring gadgets. modems, keyboard , cellphone & chargers using a strip of the fuzzy Velcro on your devices.
I keep increasing the size of the cases as I add equipment. The latest case is 2x8x10.5 inches. The reason for Velcro instead of pockets is that I carry different accessories depending on my meeting schedule. The final case costs less than $50 - $35 for the notebook and $15 for the Velcro. The final result will turn heads.

Targus CH046 for me

I'm a very simple guy, and I didn't care for any of the belt cases that have been reviewed here, especially with removable clips. With how hard I am on my accessories, that was just asking for trouble.

Instead, I got Targus' CH046 belt case (the one in Best Buy that says it fits Palm III or Visor). Fits great with the hard plastic cover, and is quick-draw enough for me.

Targus Case Good For Me

I noticed most of the reponses seemed to be coming from guys, so I thought I'd add a female point of view.

I too, use the Targus Leather Belt Case. The Velcro is holding up, and it nestles nicely under a blazer or a sweater. And when the blazer is off, well, I've been the resident geek (can a girl be a geek?)in my office for so many years that no one looks twice. 'Sides, the Visor helps balance the work-issued cell phone (YUCK!) on the other side.

And no, I wouldn't carry it like a purse. But then I hate purses. I only carry one because womens' pants so seldom have back pockets (but that's a rant for another day).

When I'm not wearing a suit, I carry my Prism (and the Deluxe I had before it) in a RhinoPak 1100, either on my belt or in a jacket pocket if I'm wearing one. It seems to provide pretty decent protection.

When I wear a suit, I put it in the inside pocket with just the hardcover it came with.

I've ordered the Vaja case for the Prism, and can't wait to try that out.

I use the OtterBox 3000-works great for my Prism/Minstrel S and does not slide around in the case. I'm confident with the protection and don't have to worry about jarring effects of travel, either on my bike (in my backpack) or airlines (carry-on baggage).

How do you carry your visor?

I use a custom made fanny pack. I can unzip it and it opens like a book. On one side is a wide piece of elastic to hold my VDx, or slip the hard snap on cover behind it to easily hold and remove the visor. Next to that there are 3 thin elastic traps to hold misc. other items. IE my stowaway, wallet or whatever. Inside on the other half is a mesh see through pouch to hold modules (eye, soundsgood, backup, thinmodem) The second layer behind this pouch is a zippered pock to hold cash, change, I.D., credit cards and whatever. Externaly, the side against my body hold the visor so it has some padding for cushion, there is a small handle on top to hold like a purse (for the women)and a small pocket to tuck the waist straps into when they are not needed. On the external end, there is an pocket to put my cell phone with a velcro flap. On this flap is another zipperered pocket to hold my Pentopia 3-1 stylus, change, gum, and small items like that. The idea came from fanny packs already available at Staples, Target, and REI sports. I just prefered to have one built to my own needs.

Thanks everyone for your posts.

So far mine has been riding in my front shirt pocket with the included cheap slipcase protecting it. Not perfect, but cheap. I've got my eye on the Vaja belthook Visor case, and am saving my pennies for it.

If anyone has this Vaja case, can you give me a good review? Likes, dislikes, etc? It's their leather case designed specifically for the Visors. It's cover flips back over the top.

I have the RhinoPak 2000, which followed me on an I-80 road trip to Reno and back. It has beltloops instead of a hook, and the elastic tiedowns held the leather slipcover that my VisorDeluxe sits in quite snugly. (I don't have it held the way the picture shows; I pull mine out and then out of it's cover.) The front clasped pocket holds a Handspring Modem, the left inside pocket holds a modem cable, and the hinge micropockets hold extra batteries (as does the front zipper pocket). There's room for a couple of extra stylii and a ballpoint.

Just to add to this already long post, I use the following:

*Rhinoskin Shocksuit Sportcase - got for xmas last year, but turned out to be a piece of sh*t. Stay away from this one!

*Just got a blue neoprene case from handspring - VERY cool and functional

*a buddy of mine just GAVE me his old Titanium case from Rhinoskin - originally for his Palm Pro, but my blue VDX fits it fine!

Cases are half the fun!

I have several cases...

But the best by far is my Vaja slipcase. It's brown ostrich skin leather that looks very professional and feels great. I keep some cash, couple of credit cards in the slots. I t feits on my belt and has a quick release so I can have it in my hands in a flash. As far as looks go, this is the best!

I use a case with a belt clip that I got off of Ebay from some guy that makes gun holsters. $8.00
I also sometimes use the bifold leather case, because it holds my checkbook too.

My wife got a Bumper case and just carries it in her purse, but we both like the stuff a GrinderGear and I will probably get a basecamp pretty soon.

A lady friend of mine found a little Samsonite brand camera case (of a size suitable for an instamatic) for under $10. It has a strap which goes over one's sholder, and the case rides about belt level, like a tiny purse.
The case looks like ballistic nylon, and comes in a couple of colors (navy blue and olive drab)

It is just the perfect size to hold a Prism, and maybe a couple of credit cards in the zipper pocket.
