My USB port was not syncing (on Win98), but thanks to this thread, I was able to fix it. I deleted the /HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Enum/USB/ROOT_HUB key in the registry (as suggested), and rebooted with my visor in the cradle. It detected a new device (Handspring Visor - YAHOO!) and set it up for use. Hotsync works fine now. Thanks all.
