I'm back. Internet research (yay, Google.com) goes fast. 
A small description from Kodak again: quote:
"An Organic EL display is comprised of self-luminous pixels which require no backlighting. It features unlimited viewing angle and faster response speed than conventional LCD technology. And I forgot one of the best alternate applications: FOLED, where the F stands for flexible! Does this mean a Handspring that you can actually stick in your back jeans pocket and sit on? Would need a flexible circuit board, of course (or all circuitry crammed to one side along the axis of possible flexing...)
Universal Display Site Says somewhere in there that "OLEDs are projected to have full-production level cost advantage over most FPDs." (Flat Panel Displays)
