I just got my modem from Handspring today.
After an hour consultation with my office's network administrator, I had successfully completed my first network hot synch. (A word to the wise, the instructions with the modem for setting up network synching are lacking. Be sure to check out the manual on the CD that came with the handheld for the necessary steps.) Given the very small size and weight of the modem, it will work very well to keep up on e-mail, appointments, and to-do lists while away from the office. My secretary can put new appointments and tasks on Outlook for me, and I can then access them while away. (I will also know immediately when someone's kids have junk to sell. Oh well, one can't expect it to screen out spam. )
This clearly will be a major benefit to my productivity away from the office.
Now, forgetting about the practicle side-- does anyone know what uses the modem can be put to other than remote hot synching? I understand that with some third party software, you can actually surf the web. What software will let you do this? Is there any free software? I assume that it will only allow you to check specially formatted sites. What good ones are there?
Thanks in advance for your help.
