I don't think the Edge is a dead idea. The ability to have a module when needed and thin is great. I mean.. does one really carry their visor with the eyemodula, backup module or gps in it all the time (unless that's the main use of the visor)?
That being said, the Edge needs to have built in the things that you need all the time such as an SD slot (for memory), and bluetooth (for wireless access to cellphones etc.) and 16mbs of ram. In this way for most users, you could use it without the need for a module most of the time and have a thin PDA, and one that is expandble with a variety of modules when you need it for specialized occasions. An arguably it's one of the best looking ones out there, except maybe the T415 clie in black.
Also looks is important, especially for day to day use unless you're a geek. A bricklike plastic handheld compared to a sleek aluminium Edge/T415 would look more much more complimentary to a suit then a Vdx or Prism. Especially if you have your PDA with you all the time (except in the shower of course)
