IE 6.0 and it's stupid grudge against Quicktime.

When I downloaded the new Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, I knew about some incompatibily issues it had with Quicktime. I figured, "When do I ever use quicktime? I don't see that many movies." Well, as it turns out, alot. SO, any way of getting around that?

Arrow

Don't use IE . Go to www.apple.com/quicktime and see if it installs an ActiveX control for you. This developer page talks about the issue.

Uninstall IE 6.0 -> Go back to IE 5.5. Voila, all your problems are gone.

Quicktime and IE 6.0 get along just fine for me. I did have to install the ActiveX component James talked about though...

As a browser IE is lame. About the only thing it's good for is displaying pages. What you need is a kickass browser shell for IE called NetCaptor. http://www.netcaptor.com/
(I can open five Visor-related sites at once, can you?)

I can open as many as I want. I just have to open IE again. Switching screens is as simple on the TaskBar as it is having tabs at the bottom and I do not lose as much screen realestate.

Other than putting shortcuts in a toolbar, what does NetCaptor do? I hit the link you gave, but I did not really spend a great deal of time investigating.

I would rather know what feature you find most compelling.

Thanks for the link, by the way.

I'd say at least 95% of the web right now is just "displaying pages." Also, NetCaptor is a shell of IE, and IE is lame as a browser?

That is a rather funny question. I almost always have AT LEAST 5 sites open in IE, usually closer to 7 or 8.

Anyway, if anyone would like a shortcut tip in IE, if you want to open a link in a new window, just hold the shift key then click on the link. Voila, the link opens in a new window. This is really

Yeah, a new, non-maximized window! I did find a free app called IE New Winodw maximizer tht works quite well. It's free at: http://hem.passagen.se/j-zoon/index.htm

NetCaptor has a tour, which you can take here: http://www.netcaptor.com/tour.php

IE is still lame. At least the interface has some color to it in WinXP.
