Blow-out UPDATE: Friday Aug, 23 (Late)
They were back, now they're gone again! Eyemodule2 for $40 that is. Glad I got my order in, and confirmed by e-mail!
Other sold out items include the $5 Visor Edge USB cable (like I want one of those!) and the Visor Stylus 5-pack for $3 (wait a minute, the item name says 5-pack, but the photo and text below describe a 3-pack of black tipped styli. There is a 5-pack product, but that is the jelly colored sticks to match VDX models. Sombody might be getting burned on this one! Either those expecting the black-tipped styli might be getting jelly-colored ones, or vice versa! Well, what do you want for $3?
I did get my first order today and here is what I thought:
Foliomodule case: nice catch-all for Visor stuff for $9.99!
Meshmodule case: Supposed to fit Prism too, but kind of tight, difficult to get in and out. I'll keep it for when I get a Pro! Not bad for $5 and makes a good case for Magellen GPS companion and two other standard sized springboards.
Handspring Sport Case: Again, not bad for $5. I did not like it at first, but it is growing on me. Belt loop not what I expected, it is a thin adjustable nylong strap with one of those black plastic clip buckles you see on backpacks, etc.
Spare USB HotSync/Charger cradle for Prism: for $10, and mine did come with the wall-wart AC supply.
Handspring Stylus Pen: Well, I am glad I did not pay the $15 Handspring was charging for these! The pop-off stylus tip which covers the ball-point is small and easy to lose. The steel shaft in between is only a tube, not nearly as sturdy s the machined rod that the standard stylus is made from (well, I guess they had to put the ink somewhere!) But the worst part is the top/head, where you pull it out of the stylus keeper. It is plastic and screws over/onto a plastic reset pin which is crimped (!) onto the non-business end of the pen barrel. I t feels like it is going to snap off every time I use it. if the reset pin and external thread had been machined steel, like on the Pilot Chameleon Pen Stylus, this would not be a problem. However, I do like that it does not attempt to provide a pocket clip like the Pilot stylus has, which seems to snag on everything, chancing breakage or pulling the top of the pen (Pilot's pen tip is at the other end. Unscrew its stylus point and you have a steel reset pin!) The Pilot stylus also uses a spring loaded stylus tip, said to be less harmful to the screen because it acts like a shock absorber.
I did NOT get my $10 Tiger Woods golf game module, but the invoice has it coded differently than the rest, so I am hoping it is being sent in a separate package for some reason. It should not be on backorder, since the website still shows them in stock.
Oh, yeah, the Smart Media MemPlug ($40) and the Targus Stow-away keyboards ($60) are also sold-out, but they were not that great a deal. I better get back to my local Best Buy where I saw the Stowaways for the same price. (But I am still thinking about the Adesso serial keyboard or the IR wireless keyboard. ) I already got my MemPlug at the local CompUSA store on clearance for $40.00!
How did the rest of you do?
