This is a second message I recieved from Ed Colligan VP of Marketing and Sales. Just FYI:

From Ed Colligan
I am sure Jeff's statement that is reflected in the attached article was
intended as an approximate ship date. Little did he know that it would be
picked up as a statement that we were shipping earlier than promised!
Anyway, lesson learned here. We will post a statement on the web site
tomorrow and send it to VisorCentral as well concerning shipping status.

Thanks for your help and interest.

ETC

I talked to Handspring a couple of days ago. They told me about 15 days to ship from my order date which would be October 26. So, if they can't ship until the 31st that is only 5 days later for me as well.

I don't see a big issue. It just means the product is so cool that they are swamped with orders.

Wink

I ordered my VDx (graphite baby, oh yeah) 2 days ago and was told 4-6 weeks. I'm not expecting it any time soon, but it's killing me because I had a Palm IIIe for about a week and then returned it so I could get a Visor. Now the waiting begins.

I don't blame Handspring for the delays. Any company that grows as fast as they are is going to experience this. Should they have planned the demand better? No. How could they have known. I'm happy they kept it the way it's been and kept the prices down rather than hire a huge staff, spend tons of money on the site, and raise the prices of the Visors.

I can wait...

Should they have planned the demand better?

Working in electronics production I am a bit surprised that no Visors have been shipped. There must be a few thousand around since every magazin has one and some where given away at the internet show in N.Y.

Basically its a finished product far beyond any sample stage. Even if demand is very very very large they should have shipped to the first 1000 people or so.

Strange!

PS: How was it in the USA when the iMac came out? (I did not follow that)

At least they found my order!

No order number, or anything more specific than 4-6 weeks from order date (which he said was real soon now since I ordered 9/14), but when I gave him my name he pulled up my order and confirmed it by reading me my telephone number, which they are apparently using for tracking purposes.

There won't be any email confirmations for the initial telephone orders either.

Tough decision today: return the Palm Vx and wait, or ditch the Visor Dx order.
