Why is it that I can no longer read threads offline? (ie those I've already read)

This used to be possible (I waded through all of the notorious inventorB patent stuff this way to save my phone bill), but now if I try I get "page unavailable offline" and an offer to dial.

Is this an intentional forum feature, or is there some setting in IE I need to check? Sometimes its handy to be able to refer back to some comment or link without having to dial up again.
