Gps
Hi,
I have a Visor with the Springboard thingy on the back and I would love to add GPS to it.
I figure that this may be the cheapest way to have GPS in my car.
What GPS products do you recommend? Is anyone using them currently?
Thanks, th3gh05t
Magellan + Geode
You may read the GPS reviews here at visorcentral. I have the magellan GPS springboard which works fine for me, but it uses Visor's RAM so it is not possible to store large maps.
The Geode GPS module stores the maps on MMC cards.
Sorry, but I don't believe that the Geode will store maps on MMC cards. While the Geode does have MMC card slots, the software/firmware for the Geode was never developed to the point where the MMC was accessible before the company went under. I did, at one time, hear that a beta version was being tested within GeoDiscovery but also that it was very slow and quite buggy at the time.
I have both the Geode and Magellan, and if I were choosing between the two, I'd pick the Magellan. It came with a CD of US maps (and an OEM version of MarcoSoft's Quo Vadis mapping program) , while the Geode did not - and the GeoDiscovery website is no longer available to download maps, either.
