-- WorldNet's i495 Plan (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=15557)

Posted by mbzvi on 05-31-2001 03:57 PM:

Greetings all,

I'm a cable modem user in the NY area, and prior to that I used the BlueLight free ISP to access the internet. Now that I have the VisorPhone, I'm eager to try out some wireless internet access. But I don't care to pay $20 each month for a service that I will use only a few times per month.

Since free ISPs don't work with handhelds, the best deal out there looks like WorldNet's 495 plan. But I hear that it too has a popup window. Does this mean that it too won't work on my Visor?

Bottom line, am I stuck paying $19.95 a month for full WorldNet or Earthlink?

Who is your cable modem provider? Most broadband providers offer a limited dial-up plan (at a low fee) to use while you're a road warrior.

If your provider doesn't have such an option, Earthlink does offer a "light" or $6.95 for 5 hour plan that isn't advertised. Any usage above 5 hours is billed at $2/hour. No special software required.

Go here: https://register.mindspring.com/cgi...aboutplans.html

Temporarily disregard the Mindspring domain (and yes, you'll see a certificate issue dialog box)-- as you know, Mindspring is now Earthlink.

Dude, there are free ISPs that work with PDAs!

Check out the following URLs for a how to and a list of free ISPs.

If you do want to use AT&T, then check out this configuration page. I know it works, because I use it with my VPL and Thinmodem+.
