-- GoAmerica problems (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11737)

I initially pre-ordered the Minstrel S and service from GoAmerica, but cancelled the order the very next day, when they informed me that it would be a long wait. I then ordered and soon received the modem and service from Yadayada. Subsequently, I received the (cancelled) modem from GoAmerica and my VISA was charged for that and for monthly service fees and other, unidentifiable charges.

I have been fighting with these folks since Dec. 29th, trying to find someone to give me an RMA - I finally found a Customer Service Rep. who was unable to find anyone either and finally had me ship it to her,via certified mail - a kindness that I appreciated.

Since then I have had runarounds and actual lies from the one management person I did manage to contact (thanks to that same Customer Service Rep. paging him while I was on the phone with her...), only partial credit on my VISA and a really bad impression of this company. My VISA bank is now disputing the charges.

This may be an isolated instance, but I thought I should post it, just in case someone else is wondering about GoAmerica or has had some problems with them as well. I will probably contact the BBB, as my VISA bank has suggested.

I've actually had good experiences with GoAmerica. I opened a company account with them though. I haven't had the experience of one-off consumers. I hate to say this, but sometimes you have to go through 2 or 3 Customer Service Reps before you get a good one.

The only people I could ever even reach were in sales! (The sales lines of companies always answer their phones!) Finally, one salesman connected me to the woman who did help me to resolve the problems, at least partially. I spent long stretches on hold before that!
