Unhappy

Am I the only one that notice that Visorcentral takes a long time to load at times? I have a DSL connect and sometimes I have to wait a very long time...about 1 minute or more for the pages to load. I know that its not my connection because of two things. One, it is the same situation when I surf the site from work that have even higher connection speeds and two, I other sites such as Visorcentral's main competitor loads very fast when I visit. What is going on here?

What do you consider Visorcentral.com's main competitor? This has happened before, and no you are not the only one.

I consider VisorVillage to be VC's main competitor.... needless to say, it doesn't even come close to visorcentral. I usually visit both sites however and have never had to wait for it VV to load.

We had some speed issues back in February (I think it was), but have since relocated the server to Peracto's new datacenter, which has 6 DS3s. So there is plenty of bandwidth available...

At what times is VC slow? Sporadically or periodically? If you do a traceroute to VC, over which provider's lines are you coming in?

Thanks,

Marcus

I haven't had a problem. I'm usually logged on with a plain old 56k modem, so I'm sure it's not as fast as DSL usually is, but I've never had to wait a full minute for a page to load.

Well. I've had problems with some of the banner ads in essence crashing Netscape Navigator. The symptom is that the page stalls during the load of the ad, and the page never completes loading. Further, I can't get Navigator to respond to other web addresses after this happens. Even if I kill Navigator, something in it is poisoned; and even with sites that do load (after I kill all Navigator processes and restart the app), none of the links or buttons work. The only solution is to reboot. The problem only occurs in the early a.m.

Note that everything works fine with IE. I'm also going to start trying Opera, and see if this happens to it as well.

I've had that problem. Here's what I do:

Quit Netscape Navigator

Hold down the Ctrl and Alt keys while hitting the Del key. A window will appear.

Inspect the list in the window. One entry should be "Netscape".

Highlight "Netscape" and hit the End Task button.

Restart Netscape. It should work now.

I think the ads are the culprit. I use IE and soemtimes I have to wait a good two minutes before the page fully loads and that is on a dsl connection. At other times it loads really fast...like tonight. Strange.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I am killing Netscape via NT's Task Manager because I can't get the focus back to Navigator to close it. When shutdown this way, I think a stray process is still running. Not even a log-out (to another local account) clears things. I actually have to reboot. So I suspect that it is something tied to a service/process that is not terminated when the rest of Navigator is AND it is not closed on a log-out. While I doubt it is relevent, I too am on DSL.
