-- "Frequent Thread" category idea? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=4470)
I have an idea:
A lot of common "threads" seem to pop-up every few months on the forums as new people join. A lot of these threads are rather interesting to revist once in a while as well. These are things like "hidden Palm OS Shortcuts", "Best Database Software," "favorite hacks," or "best freeware software."
So, I was thinking that it would be cool to have some sort of main category for "Frequent Discussions" or something in that nature...where people could stay up on common discussions over time.
Now that I think of it...it would be cool to link relative discussions to the software archives when they go back up (IE if you look up MiddleCaps Hack, it would have a link to the "favorite hacks" thread in the Common Discussions forum.
I dunno...just an idea...
i think its a great idea... i know i get really sick of saying the same thing over and over again to answer newbie questions, but i'm sadly a little lazy for looking up the old threads... and i do want to share with the new kids, because hey... we've all needed help and found it right here!
i also second the link to forum discussions. rhodiana, for example, links to a discussion here. and it's really helpful in decisding wheteher or not you want the whatever-it-is.
anyway... good thinkin' homer!

I also think that this is a good idea.
Regularly there are questions from new users like "Help! It doesn't sync" and the like.
I mean, I was (maybe I still am) a newby to the wonderful world of the Visor and had tons of questions. We have the VisorCentral FAQ, but I think there are still issues that are not answered there, especially things like Hackmaster and good/useful hacks, IR hotsync, favorite Apps etc.
I also second the link b/t the Discussion and the Software Archives if it's feasible and not too much work.
Poor James and Marcus: You will never run out of new suggestions by users "How about we turn the screen upside down so that our members in Australia can read the threads ... etc."
Have fun,

You can replace the 'User Group' section that I suggested awhile back (seems to be a big flop
)
