-- Do you think polls are overused? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=14834)

It's almost gotten to the point where I just skip it if it's a poll.

The irony is funny that you make a poll. Or is that the joke? Whatever. Who thinks whatever is overused?

Why are polls any more burdensome than any other thread?

Because they clutter and skew the 'unread posts' listing when there is seldom actually any 'unread' context in them.

For instance, there are currently, 3 replies, but 12 votes. That keeps the poll popping up to the top all the time without much to add to the viewing.

We can turn off the fucntion that pops the poll thread up towards the top everytime someone votes, if you would prefer that.

I would so prefer.

Could you make it pop back up every 15 votes? Or some other reasonable interval?

I'd certainly prefer it. However, I'd prefer if polls weren't even an option...

Arrow

Well I actually like the polls because it prevents the "me too" postings.

The polls are fine, but it would be great if you disabled that function.

I wonder how many people were vi'ing to say that?

I like Polls. I just wish that instead of popping up to the top, it pops up to the top WITH A DIFFERENT NEW REPLY icon, to denote, that it's only a new vote. That would keep me from clicking to a lot of unneassary posts!

Polls are OK - sometimes more entertaining than useful.

Maybe it's time to create a forum just for posting polls? Along that line how difficult would it be to have two new posts search functions one with the polls forum and one excluding it? Just a thought.

It has been SED that searches are a little AWKward without the global flag, /g at the end.
