Post Sprint PCS WWDL Experience

Hi,

I activated my Sprint PCS Wireless Web Digital Link a few days ago and I must say I'm pretty pleased. From the people I've tested it on, the call quality is quite satisfactory, and using AvantGo or Eudora to browse and perform email tasks is pretty high on the cool factor.

As described in other posts, I knew more about the unit than the Sprint associates, so I just transferred my existing Sprint number to the WWDL using the Sprint website. I have a $29/month Free & Clear plan that includes 200 Anytime/2800 Night & Weekend plus Wireless Web access that dips out of the voice minutes.

I used to connect my Motorola v120c phone to my Visor with a SupplyNet cable. This was satisfactory, but I can tell you that the WWDL pulls up web content and emails much faster than that arrangement. Its not the 3G speeds referred to in now moot press releases, but enough to do emails and text-based browsing. The AvantGo browser seems to be the fastest I've tested.

As far as cases, I ordered the one from HandSpring's website that's supposed to fit either the VisorPhone or WWDL (http://www.handspring.com/products/...ry.jhtml?id=739). It fits fine, but since the VisorPhone and WWDL antennae are on opposite sides, you have to turn the WWDL around to put it in the case (with the Visor screen facing the back of the case). I actually like this arrangement better, as it seems more intuitive when I pull it out of the case on my belt to answer a call, since the screen if facing me at that point.
