-- using the Ericsson 280LX for wireless access??? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=15170)
Today, I passed by the AT&T stand at the mall, and spotted a genuine "Ericsson Data Cable" for the R280LX (also works with the 289LX, among other models). I didn't even know this cable existed!
One end of the cable connects to the phone, and the other is a standard DB9 female serial connector. On the back of the package, a simple drawing shows the phone connected to a notebook computer via this cable. So, am I right in assuming I can connect this same phone/cable combo to my Vdx??
Many of you will remember VC member "wac", with his ingenious Visor-to-GPS serial cable (before the likes of Mark/Space). A hotsync connector on one side, and a DB9 male connector on the other. Is it possible to connect the Ericsson data cable to my Visor with wac's cable?? Seems almost too easy. Or do I need a null modem in between?? Or do I need a Mark/Space cable instead? Or am I just dreaming that this setup will work at all??
I'm looking for any technical help you guys can provide. I can't seem to find any technical data on the Ericsson 280 data cable either from Ericsson's site or AT&T's. Basically, I'm looking to find the right combination of cables for my Ericsson and Vdx... I have a feeling this Ericsson data cable is the key.
Thanks,
- Sean

update....
I think I finally found some info on this Ericsson data cable. RS232 Cable , Model DRS-01. It appears that this cable only enables phonebook management with the 280LX and your laptop/desktop. The 289LX apparently is needed to enable data transfer.
Can anyone confirm this?? Is there a combination of cables that will work with the Ericsson R280LX ??
