Help on hooking up my Visor to Nokia Cellphone
Is there any way to hook my Visor up to my Nokia cell phone?

It depends on the model. Some you can just use an IR connection if it has an IR port on the phone. Otherwise you'd need to find an appropriate cable for your phone. Other folks here can direct you to places to get cables as I got no clue where you would get one.
There are several Nokia models out there, some can and cannot connect to your visor for internet access. You will have to be more specific as to what Nokia model you have and who your cellular phone service provider is.

I have a Nokia 3360 which has a built in IR modem. What do I need to get my Visor to dial up to Earthlink using the IR modem? I use Cingular as my cellular service.
I use a Nokia 8290 myself. You need a program to redirect serial port data to the infrared port of your Visor. IrLink works but is shareware; I use ComLink which is freeware (but I have to remember to disable it to HotSync, and IrLink autodetects that). Then...
I check Enable ComLink, then tap IrComm. Go to Prefs in your Visor.
In Network prefs, pick Earthlink for your service, enter your User Name (ELN/screen name, my example ELN/telyx), enter your Password, then (the odd part) for Phone, enter 00 (double zero).
Tap Details, make sure Connection type is PPP, Idle Timeout is Power Off (not sure if that matters much), check Query DNS, check IP Address Automatic.
Tap Script, then tap where it says End and pick Send, then enter (next to Send) ATDTyour dialup number (my example ATDT9657623).
Tap the next End and select Send CR.
Tap the next End and select Delay, then enter 8.
Leave the next End there. Tap OK until you're back to the Network Prefs screen.
Tap in the upper right corner to go to Modem prefs. Set speed at 38,400 bps.
Set Speaker to Low.
Set Flow Ctl to Automatic.
Set Country to United States (assuming you're here).
For String, enter ATZ.
(At this point, at the top of the screen where it says Modem, it should say Custom.)
Then, enable IR on your phone, place the phone and Visor so that their IR ports are aimed at each other, and under Network prefs, tap Connect.
(This info came from www.mywirelesspalm.com, and until I read it, I pulled my hair out trying to hook up! Luckily, though my hair is gray, I have a lot of it.)
Browse away! I installed MultiMail Pro on my Visor Deluxe (it came with my now-kind-of-redundant Palm m105), so I send and receive e-mail and surf the Web from anywhere in VoiceStream's Great Lakes coverage area. Funny, too, even when I went to Indiana, I used Earthlink's Detroit dial-up number; just added 1313 before the number in the Network prefs script.)

Tom LaPrise,
Thanks for the heads up on ComLink and its settings. When I get my PLAT back, I'll try that and let you know how things worked out. Hopefully, everything will work fine on my 3360 as it does on your 8290.
Oh, you have a Plat... you might not need ComLink or IrLink. In Prefs, check to see if you have Connection as one of the drop-down choices. If so:
Create a New configuration. Call it Nokia or whatever.
For Connection Method, choose IrCOMM to Modem. Make sure Dialing is set to TouchTone, and Volume is Low (though that doesn't matter much).
Tap on Details, then set Speed at 38,400 bps, make sure Flow Ctl is Automatic, and set Init String at ATZ (at least it works for my m105/8290).
Now, in Network Prefs, under Connection, choose the one you just created (Nokia or whatever you call it). For Phone, instead of 00 as I advised above, enter the actual dial-up number for Earthlink without spaces or dashes. Tap Details, then make sure everything is set as above (Connection type PPP, Query DNS checked, Idle Timeout=Power Off, IP Address=Automatic. Then, tap Script and make sure it just says End.
Enable your phone's IR port and tap Connect on the Network Prefs screen and cross your fingers.
(The Plat uses Palm OS 3.5H, which supports serial via IR. The Deluxe's OS 3.1H doesn't, so it needs a little help redirecting serial to the IR port.)

Again, thanks Tom. My Visor won't get here until later this week. I accidentally left it in California at my brother's. He just mailed it yesterday.
I'll keep you posted in my progress.
