I imagine they'll draw from the entries that were submitted in the contest...

I keep hearing that Annoying Dell Guy Speaking to me "Dude, you're getting a Treo!"

Got my prize today. Got the CD version, rather than the module version, which is good. Now, I can put it on my Memplug

What was the shipping method and point of origin? I'm curious so that I can estimate when I might receive my goodies.

Wink

I got my Data Quake today. Thanks VC. Now I'm torn between that and my Memplug. Great problem to have.

My thinmodem was shipped via UPS. There was no tracking number, and it appeared as if the modem was shipped from the manufacturer. Hope this helps!

I'm so excited that some of you have started receiving your prizes. I was starting to worry that I had dreamed the whole thing, especially since I've never won anything before in my life.

Nope. They're mad at me because I didn't pay a few discover bills on time, so they wouldn't give me a vphone despite the fact that voicetream was willing to give me service with a small deposit.

whatever you do, don't screw your credit.

My HandyGPS arrived today via USPS with a VC return address label (IRS refund direct deposit and my prize on the same day ). Battery charging...

Get this: I do my first ever married taxes (and just had my first married vday...), and it turns out that the "marriage penalty" doesn't apply to earn-nothings like me: we're getting a monster sized refund. I e-file via turbotax (so nice, so easy), and I'm expecting money in the back lickety split.

...not 3 hours later I find that we've been rejected becuase my wife's name change didn't make its way to the SSA. So I go to their website, which is not as helpful as I'd like, and I discover that the only way to get it done is either mail your valuable documents in or take them in yourself during normal business hours. of course, my wife is a teacher and "normal business hours" for her mean "not at all" becuase it's so difficult for her to get time off (ironic, no?), so now I have to go in and prove my identity, her former identity, and her new identity.

After all that is done, 4 weeks for the change. 4 gd weeks. Then, and only then, can we file our stupid taxes!

the moral of the story(here is the kicker!): The IRS is the paragon of customer service, speed, and ease of use--when compared to the SSA.

...*pant*...*pant*...*pant*...*pant*

I'm curious to hear your thought on the new module. can you post a mini-review---it's been awhile since we're heard on the state of GPS on the visor.

Well, the marriage penalty hit us _hard_ the first few years (and neither of us is exactly raking it in - she's a teacher). The secret to getting beyond the marriage penalty is evidently...get this...having a kid! They expect you to get married to procreate? What kind of GovCo is this?

If it'd have worked, it would have been. I e-filed on the night of the 7th.

After our experience dealing with the marriage license process (they didn't believe that either of us had been born and neither set of parents seemed to have the 'proper' 'proof' handy), we made sure to get those changes made and verified ASAP.

Ouch.

Sure, but that's like saying that Satan is the model of kindness and goodness when compared to Cthulu.

Talking

How come the VC Xmas contest is only open to people in the US/Canada only?

I'm from Singapore... and haven't won anything for 2 years in the 2 Xmas Contests
