Unhappy

Some time ago, I received an email of a "new" version of YadaYada software, which upgraded my Minstrel S to version 1.11. Today, I checked their website and they had another upgrade, which was to upgrade my module to version 1.12, but according to the updater, version 1.11 is a higher version number than 1.12. What gives?

I was determined to install the new 1.12 update, so I found out a way to make it so.

When you attempt to install it, the program will say that the module version is higher.

Well, you can "force" install it by holding the down button and pressing install on the screen. (if it's not the down button,
it's the up button)

It will work as I've done it twice already.

I didn't notice much difference in the program...my VDX still crashes after MOST Minstrel S shutdowns.

Good luck!

Michael

It worked! MWUHAHAHAHA.....

All I need now is that Samsung antenna I ordered. This POS aluminum foil is starting to annoy me.

Try the new samsung antenna as is, but if you find it doesn't help much , then do what I did, I had to "enhance" my samsung antenna to REALLY get something out of it.. basically I replaced the "antenna" part with a 5 inch aluminum rod (start longer than you think and cut it down to size, seems to work best when it's no longer than 5 1/2 inches) (the rod was a grocery store bbq skewer cut to size than after everything was working well I put a shrink wrap tubing covering over it).. make sure the new antenna is in electrical contact with the threaded base part.. the replacement rod I used was a bit thick and a bit sung so it took a little "convincing" to get it in all the way to make an electrical connection.. However, I have no doubt about it EVER coming loose now..

Question Samsung Antenna?

Are you referring to a replacement antenna for the minstrel wireless modem? Does it increase range, etc? Where is it available?

Posted by tkho on 02-21-2001 12:25 AM:

I read somewhere that the antenna for the Samsung 1900 fit well in the Minstrel S, so I bought it from sunnycell.com. Funny thing, though, is that I can't find it on their site anymore. They shopping cart seems to also have switched over from Yahoo, so um...

I'll get back to you after I check if my order went through. Bah.
