6 Months later, no NIC Springboard

It's been over six months since my last post regarding this topic so I thought I'd try again. It appears that Xircom ditched their efforts in building a network interface card for the Handspring and I see no other vendors other than Portsmith (Ethernet Cradle) making an attempt. Does anyone know if there is a Springbard NIC in the works?

I only know of the cradle and the Xircom Wireless Springboard.

HandEra making the smart play

SpringBoard module development has faltered lately. HandEra was smart to include CompactFlash and SD slots on their handheld.

I had heard that a cradle was in the works for the Prism as well, so emailed Portsmith. Doesn't sound like there is a big enough "need", so there isn't one coming. I find it kind of aggrivating because LAN access from my Prism would be a huge help, but wireless is not an option. The letters SOL come to mind......

I could really benefit from an NIC SB. Hope someone would make one soon ... and for cheap. A modem+NIC combo would be nice too.

I want one too! gah! I could settle for a matchbookdrive that could use CF hardware, and use a CF solution.. but GAH! I WANT ONE! wireless isn't an option at my house, or my school. Wired is, and it would kick!

I've got an e-mail from Portsmith saying to keep an eye in the website, because "However, we should have a solution in
the next 1-2 months." This email was dated 09/21/2001.

Fingers crossed... I wouldn't mind having a ethernet cradle in my lounge, so I could check the internet without going to the small studio room - I can't use the wireless card, because I have the Visorphone on my Prism!

Personally, I'd prefer a springboard so I could use my stowaway with it, but anything at this point would be quite welcome.

given how similar the springboard standard is to CF, ive always wondered why HS didnt include a CF adaptor SB and drivers with it in the first place.

Lightbulb CF adapter alternative

I don't think a dedicated Ethernet SB is going to happen.

I think more emphasis should be made on InnoPocket, InnoGear, Memplug, and Matchbook to modify, develop drivers, etc. for their CF Springboards to accept the CF NIC cards.

InnoGear doesn't have a CF Springboard.
