So I convinced my wife I could use one... or at least notified her I wanted one... It just has to be useful to be allowed in the house... 
However, I ordered one Tuesday, and paid for o/n UPS...
Still don't have it, and they say they dont have a tracking number yet... But they told me it shipped on tuesday... Are they really shipping these things now??? or just pulling my leg? I feel like a little kid... I already have VNC and SSH clients loaded, just waiting for the friggin modem and it is still not here...
Does anyone have any better contact method than 800-yadayada?

I ordered mine last week. Just talked to a rep at Yada Yada, and they said they were shipping out several Minstrel S modems tonight....for next day delivery.
She told me that they had run out of disks(?), so there was a delay in shipment.
She also said that they will be e-mailing the tracking numbers...they use UPS.
I will be anxiously waiting for my modem to arrive tomorrow!

I'm a bit peeved by this...
I've heard the following: (in no particular order)
-It shipped Tuesday
-It shipped Thursday
-It got delayed because UPS could not delived due to your weather (which we have none... Boston has been clear for 3 days 
-You should have it today (Wednesday)
-You should have it today (Thursday)
-The UPS tracking number will be in tommorow (Wednesday)
-The UPS tracking number will be in tommorow (Thursday)
-The UPS tracking number will be in tommorow (Friday)
I'm beggining to see a pattern... (That's not even counting excuses other got...)
I would have been happy waiting... I hate getting lied to...
Should we keep a running list of excuses???

I ordered last week and just received it, it's great. Realize that it's the holidays and mail is slow and YY must be signing up lots of users if they are running out of disks. Dont worry it will be worth the wait.
I have no problem with waiting, but I have a *huge* problem with getting the runaround... That's what bugs me...
I can't wait to get it, that's why I'm annoyed

Happy Treo 600 user, so far. Thanx Cingular for having an unlocked phone. 
My Treo 600 is my phone, my PDA, my watch, and my MP3 player. Oh yeah, I take a picture once in a while with it. Convergence is such a great thing. 
I ordered mine and received it like four days later, right before Christmas. Quicker then they'd originally promised, actually.
Well, I called 1-888-yadayada instead of 1-800-yadayada and got in touch with the real company (not the tech support). It rang for about 5 minutes...
Finally the lady told me the same reason about the delay was the that they ran out of disks to load the software into the modem at novatel. Of course, since they do not send the disks (according to her) with the modem, how many disks do you really need to load the software into a bunch of units? (ever heard of sneaker net?) it's now supossed to be on the way, so no matter...
She said they are going out today and is reimbursing me for the original o/n charges. I should have it by tuesday...
Oh well, I was hoping to have it before the snowstorm on saturday

I ordered mine on Saturday but the rep I spoke to on the phone today said that they would be shipping on Thursday night for Friday delivery. I was so ready to have it today. I was off all day and was looking forward to testing it out. Well, here's to tomorrow...
Just ordered a Minstrel from Yadayada after fooling myself into thinking I can afford yet another $40/mo bill in the mail. It's just a hunk of plastic that plugs into your Visor. I don't need that. I can live without it.
But it's got BUTTONS and LIGHTS!
Well, that's another matter altogether. So we've ordered it. I was told it will be a few days to arrive, about the same time my replacement green VDX will show up so that will be nice timing.
Yes, they are out of disks. The instructions will refer to a CD-ROM with software on it, but they are out of disks. Instead of holding up deliveries, they are preloading all the modems with the software on them now and shipping those. I suppose if you really want a CD, you can order one later or download the software from their website. But it explains the 'no disks' delay.

I ordered mine on 12/21 and I still don't have it yet,.. I also called the 1-888 number, I too got all the same stories as those posted above.. However I didn't hear the one about being out of discs, that's new, I was told it was because they were out of modems.. A few common points are to the stories I have heard are: that the delay is from Novatell and that I should receive mine on Tuesday (I'll believe it when I see it..) I'll just keep calling them every day anyway.. I can understand about it being the holidays and all, but if I just got and honest answer upfront initially, I would feel allot better.. (I hate whining). If when I ordered it on 12/21 they said I wouldn't get it till 1/2/2001 I would be ok with that..
So far they seem nice enough on the phone.. I hope all of this is not a bad sign..

Well I called YY before they closed and they said due to some bad disks they wouldn't be shipping until Tuesday. They said they upgraded the browser for the Palm OS. I ordered on 12/22 and they said they would ship tonight (Thursday). The rep was apologetic and quite nice. Even though I was disappointed I would not be getting my new toy when I thought I would, I was pleased with the level of service I got. They even gave me a refund on my shipping charges!

Since many of us are "scheduled" to receive our modems on Friday, let's post that progress here.
When you receive your modem, let us know here that you've gotten it and when it was delivered. This will give us some hope that the rest of us will also receive the modems.
I can't wait to see that UPS truck!

I'm not going to hold my breath for the UPS truck to arrive.. (however I'd like to be proven wrong)
I've been home on vacation this week and have watched the truck pass by my house (many times) everyday without stopping :-( , so I tend to doubt it will stop by Friday.
dredhead - Thanks for the support, and advice.. (I already downloaded Blazer and PalmScape and tried it using the Palm Emulator for windows) I've noticed Blazer has problems with some sites, apparently ones that use or have javascript?. Try http://www.boston.com for example, works with Palmscape. I have a Prism so I am not too worried about the whole OS 3.1 nightmare.
It would be nice to be told the (real) story one of these days from a company, even if the truth is that they have no idea, just say it. I respect people and companies that are honest and upfront with me. Is it really too much to ask for?
Let me just touch on a few of the things mentioned here: I ordered mine on 12/5 and got it on 12/7, but that was before the holiday rush. There was no CD or other software with it - all preloaded. Works great with an optimized Deluxe, probably better with a Prism. In only 2 days Palmscape has become my favorite browser, and I can't wait for their email program in English. My only YY problems are that shutting the modem down crashes the Deluxe about 50% of the time and I haven't been able to send email if there are numerous - in my case 13 - addressees. Will try to get that resolved tomorrow. Other than that, I won't part with it.
Now, if I could only get VNC working...
I ordered mine Tuesday night/Wednesday morning (Dec 19th), received it Friday morning by UPS (Dec 22). Never received a confirmation email of my order, never received a tracking number, had no proof that I had ordered it other than the 'please print this for your records' page I got after ordering. But it came, and it's here. And through the Holidays and ice covered roads of Ky (at the time), no doubt.
Signal cuts out quite a bit, but I'm not using an optimized VDx (I'll be getting a Prism next week, don't wanna bother HS for the exchange). But when it does work, I'm in geek heaven.
Now I just gotta find a good, work-through belt-clip case for this combo . . .

I just called Yada Yada, and the rep told me that Novatel has a delay in shipping the Minstrel S modems.
Originally, they were scheduled to ship Thursday (so they say), but now the new ship date is next Tuesday (1/2/01).
The rep also said that $39.95 has been credited to my account for my inconvenience (and suffering). That's cool with me.
I've waited this long....a few more days won't hurt...too much.
Can't wait until next week!

Of course you all know the service will drop to 20/month soon and we will be locked at the higher rate for a year...
