-- How about a new forum ... (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=4307)
... for rumors, especially for shipping rumors? It's getting a little tiring to wade through all that silliness in the "General Visor" forum.
I like it, but until the Visor actually ships, isn't EVERYTHING about it only rumor and speculation? If so, this makes all the forums rumor forums, eh?

Well, sort of (but not really). Some rumors are a hell of a lot more equal than others.
I mean, if I read something in a press release on Handspring's web site, I probably wouldn't think of that as a rumor, though I'll acknowledge that they might be shading the facts. If an established news source reported something they got from Jeff Hawkins or a Handspring spokesdroid, I wouldn't think of that as rumor, either, though I'll admit that reporters often screw up the facts or phrase things badly.
Things like that are worth discussing. So are things wish-lists.
But if someone I only know from a nickname on a web discussion board says, "Hey, I called Handspring and the CSR said they weren't shipping 'til Valentine's Day and the orders are being scrawled on the walls in crayon and they've lost most of them!", yeah, that's a friggin' rumor all right. Nothing worth discussing there, and even the humor value is getting real old.
I'm sure we'll all see posts from the first people to receive their Visors. I agree that everything until then will just be rumors. Maybe it will be me making the first post
