Visor Deluxe and Cell Phone/Net Access Help!
I am using a Visor Deluxe - live in South Florida and currently am using AT&T Wireless as a service provider. I'm not opposed to switching carriers but would like to do the following things:
1. Use my Visor to connect to my cell phone to connect to the net using "anytime" minutes - without incurring data connect charges.
2. I need some recommendations on a phone what would work in this area as some of the threads seem to indicate in some parts of the world some phones will work but not here in the good old technologically "adept" USA (wink).
3. My pref would be to use cable to connect to the phone and visor as it would seem this would provide a more stable connection then IR, but this is strictly an assumption on my part. Is this so?
4. Any other pointers that anyone could recommend would be greatly appreciated on the best route to go to do what I would like to do - third party cable makers, best choices for phones, etc.
I would greatly appreciate any help on this as it seems the choices and end results seem to vary greatly from what I've read in other threads and I'm pretty much a novice on this entire topic.
Sincerely,
LiRM35

Visor Data Cable
I would be willing to bet that if you have a TDMA phone with a PC Data Cable, there is a cable that will work for you.
Check on www.pcables.com, I suspect that PDCH-M9-6 would work fine in that situation.
ISP issue
Wait - upon reading some of the other posts on the topic, I'm noticing that there is the issue cited with connecting to the ISP. There isn't the QNC as with other phones.
SO that would cause you trouble with a TDMA phone. Does anyone know, are you able to dial up a conventional ISP and just connect as you would with a landline modem?
Perhaps I spoke to soon in thinking that it will be easy to connect with a serial cable and the TDMA phone.
I'm using a Motorola Startac connected via cable to my VPR. I do use Verizon as a carrier and have never had any trouble connecting to my ISP (AT&T Worldnet). All of the discussions I have read so far seem to indicate that you are probably going to have switch your wireless carrier.
Good Luck!
