Angry "No Power" Digital Link

My PCS Digital Link has stopped working, and it seems to be a power problem.

The battery is charged -- at least the charging light is solid green. The AAAs on the Visor are adequate too.

When I press the power button on the Digital Link, usually the first press does nothing. If I press it again, the Sprint splash screen comes up, then there is a lag of several seconds, then a dialog pops up with "No Power" in the title bar, and "Unable to pouer on Digital Link" is the message.

This problem first appeared about two weeks ago, intermittently. Now it won't power on at all.

I tried it with my wife's Visor, and the behavior is the same so I am pretty sure it is the Digitial link springboard module.

Could this be a bad Lithium battery or is it something more serious? I plan to go up to the Sprint PCS store where I bought it, but of course they won't know anything about it so I am asking you folks as well!

Thanks for any advice!

I haven't had, nor heard of this particular issue with the Digital Link, but I have had a couple of minor problems with my Digital Link. ALL of which I've been able to get solved by contacting AirPrime (the company who builds them for Sprint PCS.)

The power button on my unit would stick in the down position and I couldn't get Sprint PCS to fix it (actually they would but because it was scratched, from my pressing it with a pen to get it to come back out, they said I "abused" it and to get it fixed I'd have to pay lots of $$.)

I contacted AirPrime and now I have a new unit with a newer designed power button and am tickled (some color, but not pink) with the service I got from the manufacturer.

Battery in Digital Link, perhaps

Yes, Airprime is helpful, and I sent a message to them as well (no reply yet).

I was able to get the DL to power on last night by popping off the DL battery and putting it back. Electrical connection problem? The battery is relatively unprotected from mechanical jarring, since it hangs off the back of the springboard module. It should be in a protective shround of some kind IMO.

Perhaps... it wouldn't hurt to clean the contacts on the battery and in the battery compartment of the DL. Also, clean the contacts on the Visor's hotsync connector and charger/cradle.

Best Visor for DL?

It is working fine now, so I am pretty sure the problem was the not-quite-seated battery. Cleaning the contacts wouldn't hurt though.

BTW What Visor is best for the DL and the other phone modules? I would like something more readable than my old DX. Would you recommend the color Prism or the gray-scale Neo/Platinum? Thinking about upgrading...

Mine works in my Prism just fine, seemed to work in my son's Neo as well.

My concern is just with readability -- The DL works on my DX as well, but I am looking for a better screen. Dave S

If you're going to use it outside very often, you probably don't want the Prism

I recently upgraded to the NEO from the VDX. I am not too discrimination, however, I did notice that with my D- LINK, the on-screen buttons, etc are a bit sharper on the NEO than when using the VDX.

If you use the D-LINK alot at night, I would probably move towards a PRISM rather than the NEO. The backlight on the NEO doesn't seem any different than the backlight on the VDX. They both stink . .

Hm...Based on your comments I may as well just remove the Writeright plastic (which would also clarify the screen) and buy a couple of backup VDXs for use when the screen gets scratched!
