-- Data Cable for TouchPoint 1100 (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11158)
Hello all,
I would like to find a cable to hook up my VDX to my Sprint TouchPoint 1100. I had communication with Mike form Cables4PDA.com and he told me that they were not making any for my phone. I asked him if they are hard to make, and he told me the following.
"The cables aren't hard to make if you are able to do some very small/fine soldering. The connections on the phone connector are about 1/32" wide and packed very close together. The harder part is finding a source for the connectors for the phone and the Visor AND figuring out what the pinouts on the phone connectors are." I guess my question is: Has anyone done this for the TouchPoint Phone?
Please let me know.
I have a SprintPCS Touchpoint (I believe it is the 1100 -it's made by Denso Wireless - not qualcomm as it says on the case) and I am able to connect to the internet using my Visor using several different methods:
1) using an EFIG springboard module (around $150) and the Sprint wireless web data cable.
2) using the Visor serial cradle and the Sprint wireless web data cable. In addition, I made a small portable serial cable using the circuit board from the cradle - real easy to do.
The thread "RS232 to cellphone connection" covers a lot of this topic. Unfortunately, the mark-space cable didn't work for me and neither did the simple Cables4PDA cable because the conversion circuitry in the cradle is still required for this phone to connect.
I wonder if I can get my Touchpoint 2100 to work. Thanks for directing me to that thread.
Helen
