-- Cracks in Prism case (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9258)
My Prism has developed cracks at the top of the unit. Both are in the back half of the case. One is at the edge of the Springboard slot, running from the slot toward the front of the unit. The other arcs along the top of the case right over one of the screws. They're very thin cracks and don't affect the functioning of the Prism, but I'm disappointed.
Son of a gun, now that I look at the Springboard slot closely I notice more cracks! There is one along the top edge of the the stylus slot, and another tiny one on the opposite side of the Springboard slot from there.
Has anyone else seen any cracks in their Prism?
Laura, bummed
What have u been doing?
What have you been doing with the Visor Prism for you to be getting cracks already?
Mold marks?
I think what you are looking at are marks from the molds used for making the plastic cases or "flash". I see one at the top - a straight line from edge of the springboard slot to the front of the case. I doubt you can get the point of a knife in there though. I won't be the one to test it.
I agree with dtplink, I thing those are mold lines. They are on mine as well.
I find it highly unlikely that the three of us would get cracks in precisely the same place.
I've looked at these "cracks" on my Prism. They are just mold lines... There is no problem here.
Deja Vu
Has anyone got an Apple G4 Cube and been reading the rants there about 'cracks'.... Could this be the same thing...??
I think some colors show the mold lines more than others.
Of course it is possible that everyone gets cracks in the same place if there's a structural weakness in the design, but mold lines are also a likely answer....
I see them too - over the top right of my Springboard slot and near the edge of my stylus silo.
Had a look at them using a magnifying glass - definitely molding lines.

I have one that's definitely a crack. It's on the back, and it goes halfway around the right-hand screw and up. Don't tell me it's not a crack--I know a crack when I see one.

Tell Handspring about it. If it's not something you did have them send you a replacement. It doesn't seem to be a major problem with the prism but you shouldn't have to use a cracked unit, either. Make sure they send you a good, solid unit.__________________

I'm cracked, too
I too have a crack around the right screw hole on the back of the Prism. I called Customer Support and they placed a replacement order ASAP. The only issue is that with the popularity of the new units they arein backorder. They were very good about replacing the unit.
