How do you setup an ISP connection?
These are my currant setting that doesnt work.

Voice Stream - Florida

Phone: local Gainesville, Fl. WorldNet number

Details:

Connection type: ppp
Idle timeout: power off
Query DNS:
Primary DNS: 65.161.188.100
Secondary DNS: 65.161.188.100
IP address

Connection Configurations:

Name: Visor Phone
Connection Serial to Modem
Method:
Dialing: Touch Tone
Volume: Medium

Details:

Speed: 57600bps
Flow Ctl: Automatic
Init String: AT&FX

this works for me:
Connection

Name: Standard Modem
Connection Method: Serial to Modem
Dialing: touch tone
Volume: high (not that this does anything)

Details
Speed: 57,600 bps
Country: other (I read this was important)
Flow ctrl: Automatic
Init string: AT&FX4

Network

Service: AT&T Worldnet
User name: #########@worldnet.att.net (has to be account number not email address)
Password: assigned
Connection: Standard Modem
phone:12127968900

Details
connection type: ppp
idle timeout: 3 minutes
Query dns: checked
IP address checked

Script:
End

BTW, I think worldnet prevents you from sending email from other ISPs. I am now using rr as my vp ISP.

My Treo 600 is my phone, my PDA, my watch, and my MP3 player. Oh yeah, I take a picture once in a while with it. Convergence is such a great thing.

Angry visor phone

Thanks Felipe, Whiteytech and Hmp32 for you help. Still getting the error: authentication failure (0x1233) after sign onto AT&T network. Will calling Voice Stream and Handspring tech, support again.

Thumbs up 1233 error is a username/password error

You should be calling your ISP - How do I avoid the error "Please check your username and password and try again. (0x1233)"? http://support.handspring.com/esupp...esType=RESEARCH

Some ISPs seem to need a login script or a special prefix before the username e.g. ELN/ used to be required for Earthlink. A good way of guessing that you need a script or need to alter your regular username is to look at the login log for your PC as it connects to the same ISP. Also if it is using a special dialer like Earthlink you can be pretty sure that it is doing something funky to the actual settings it send to your ISP.

AOL drives me crazy for this reason - when will they ever allow regular PPP access? They must be losing plenty of Palm OS folks over this limitation. AOL Anywhere is pretty good but if you have to have another ISP account just to get to it that kind of defeats the value of it (Hello AOL - RU listening?)
