Question

Greetings All,

This is mainly directed to the VisorCentral staff, but I welcome comments from any VC user.

I've been lurking on VisorCentral for about a year now and I love the discussion forums. I'm currently on a mission to convince management at my organization that we should implement a similar forum site using vBulletin or similar technology. (Don't worry, it won't be Visor related so we won't be competing with you :-) )

I'm curious if the VC staff encountered any major pitfalls along the way when developing this discussion forum. What made you decide on vBulletin over other technologies (Slashcode, UBB, etc.)? Do you have any advice on how I can convince management that this is a reasonable step to take (ie. doesn't introduce significant security issues, isn't too costly to maintain, won't be abused by flamers, etc.) If you had to do it all over again, is there anything you would do differently?

I appreciate any ideas you may be willing to share. Keep up the good work on VC! I can't wait until I get my 'working' MinstrelS so I can read VC anytime!

Regards,
Brian

Arrow

We used to use ubb, but vBulletin works with the rest of VC since we use PHP for our pages. This allowed better customization for VC.

I'm sure Marcus will jump in here with answers as to cost, etc.
