-- Airprime SB3000/Sprint Digital Link -- Anyone Seen Them on the Horizon? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=18094)

Well I called Sprint to ask them about this. Call lasted about 30 minutes talk time. Heres the jist. The digital link can be setup to foward all incoming calls to a normal sprintpcs cell on your account. So both of these can share a number. To use it in general theres a $5 extra fee, this web minutes fee lets you use your normal minutes to go online via the digital link. As the digital link is just like the visorphone(ignore the gsm shnit) it is a cell phone, you can just change to it like you would if you changed phones with your sprintpcs account. This process from my experience(did it twice) took about 1hour to get everything settled, including the minibrowser working again. As for when its available, the guy, Paco I think it was, said that it should be out by the end of the month, and that it is currently on backorder. I suspect hes telling the truth about both, but really doesn't have a clue about the backorder issue since we all know it never was actually available for sale. Also, he tells me ALL visors will work with the digital link. As I am a deluxe user(maybe pro soon) I respond to this with a HELL YEAH! Also, and this I really like, the digital link can be tested at any sprintpcs store once it goes on sale. Hope this info will help.

On another note, anyone know if that kingston or whoever makes it keypad for the visorphone that lets you make calls when its out of the visor will work with the airprime(digital link)?

I ordered mine from their website on Monday, the email confirmation I got said if I don't get it by NEXT Monday to call them for status. On Wednesday the charge showed up on my VISA account. If they don't charge until they ship then mine should be on the way. If they charged me and it's not gonna come for quite awhile they'll get a slightly unfriendly phone call on Monday...

OK, I didn't get my AirPrime SD3000 in the mail yet so I called (as my confirmation email from SprintPCS said I could).

After a bit of waiting on the phone as the service/sales rep checked my order she told me that these have been cancelled. I told her my credit card had been billed 5 days ago - she apologized and said that's the way their website works, it bills you right away.

She asked if I wanted a refund, I said "no, I'd rather have the phone" she said they didn't know when they'd get them. That the supplier hasn't delivered any to Sprint yet and they don't know when they are supposed to get them (which is kinda strange, considering the AirPrime website said they'd be available in August - but maybe they're using a different calendar than I am)

When she finally convinced me to cancel my order she also told me that it could take 7-10 days for my credit card to get credited (strange, because it didn't take that long to get charged...) and it could actually be 6-8 weeks before it shows up on my statement...doesn't exactly install a lot of confidence in me for SprintPCS' customer service.

All I can say is WOW!!!

I am not a cell phone user and have been waiting for one I can plug into my Visor. I cannot use the VisorPhone as there is not GSM service in Cleveland. Thus I have been anxious for the Sprint SB3000.

My buddy in Chicago had complained about his service being terrible on PCS but I shook it off as one unhappy customer. How could things be as bad as he was making it out to be? My visit to the websites complaingin about Sprint has convinced me not to even bother.

KCNEWF, thanks for the link, I not only found it informative but entertaining. I now know my friend is definitely not alone and as a doctor, his problem was more serious! I guess I will stay land based for now.
