-- SpringPort Modem-Ericsson T28 (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=14498)
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Ericsson T28 and the Xircom Springport modem. With the new $30 rebate from Xircom and some sites listing the modem for as low as $120, I figure that its probably the best wireless solution for me right now.
I use Voicestream in NYC and I'm told that there is no need for the data plan because they can't differentiate it on their end. Does this mean that, as long as I don't eat up too many minutes, I can keep my same plan without any changes?
It's amazing that there is such a lack of support for these relatively expensive services. I really like Voicestream's service and their prices but trying to get even intermediate level answers out of them is like pulling teeth.
Thanks in advance for any help with this!
Well, Peeta, I am a VoiceStream customer in NYC and part of what you've heard is right. You don't have to pay extra to make data calls on your plan. The minutes can just come out of your regular plan.
But until you have data enabled on your sim card, it ain't gonna work. And the tricky part is that you've got to get the merciless frontline at VoiceStream to switch this on without subscribing you to the DataStream plan. But perservere and you will get someone who actually understands the rules.
Hope this helps
