Quality of service in Mpls, MN
I just got a visorphone thru the free deal and in Mpls was put with Voicestream. My service seems, to a cell phone newbie, to be awful. The calls are disconnected, the voice quality is very poor (kinda like a cheap walkie talkie), and the "ear bud" doesn't seem to help.
Is this the quality of a visorphone? Is it the quality of Voicestream? Did I get a lemon of a module and just need a replacement?
I live in Mpls and have had these problems just 3 miles from downtown and in every loccation I've used it. Its not just a "dead spot" unless the entire Mpls/St Paul area is a dead spot!!
So any Minnesota users out there, let me know what kind of quality you are experienceing. Thank you in advance!
To be honest, I never had any issues with VoiceStream and my Visorphone...however, I rarely went downtown with it, and can't recall if that was an issue or not.
I do have bad luck with the earbud, and generally don't use it.
My Edge/VisorPhone combo has performed just fine. Just don't expect it to work anywhere in the country.

clarification
Thanks for the reply.
Are you saying that when you make a call, people can actually understand what you are saying?!!
I've tried it in downtown, south Mpls, north mpls, Brooklyn Center, driving up Hyw 169 thru Garrison, Milaca, but not yet ST Paul.
I've used the built in microphone but I get tons of static and ambient noise. Have you bought something else to replace the ear bud or do you generally use the built in?
Based on what I've described, do you think its a bad module?
Thanks again.

Thanks for your reply.
Do you mean that people can actually understand you when you make a phone call?!!!
I've tried it with the built in microphone and the ear bud. I've tried it in downtown Mpls, north Mpls, south Mpls, Brooklyn Center, on Hyw 169 in Maple Grove, Milaca, and Garrison.
Every time, I've been told that I had a horrible connection and the sound was awful. The calls get dropped and we end up asking to repeat literaly every statement several times and then give up in frustration. I'm ready to send it back.
When you call someone, do you have a good connection some times, most times, occasionally? Do you use the built in microphone or did you buy a replacement for the ear bud?
Thanks again.
It is either a bad module or a bad visor (or both, but I put my $ on the bad visor..). Call HS, Get them replaced. Voicestream service in Minneapolis is good.

I've contacted HS and they say its a bad module. Of course, the Vphone is now back ordered - up to three weeks before I'll see one. Cust Srv rep said we will get some kind of trade in deal on the Treo.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I was set to just return it.
Surprise!!
HS said 3 weeks and yet it showed up today!
