-- Switching from NT to 98 problems (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=7909)
Hello!
I have recently switched from an NT machine to a Windows 98 PC. The Visor worked fine on the NT machine. The previous owner of the 98 machine was a Palm user and had Franklin Planner, Palm Desktop and Docs to Go installed on the 98 machine. I have tried to reinstall everything for my Visor, but I am unable to synch my Outlook 2000 calendar and contacts and I cannot figure what is wrong except that somewhere the old user's information is still in there and it's not able to see my user name to match my Visor. The hotsynch conduit manager calls up the right user name so I can't figure out why it thinks it can't find the "profile". Also I thought Profile were for newtorked PC's and my hotscynch is direct to my PC via a serial cradle. No networking involved. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Pocket Mirror, Plam Desktop and Desktop to Go. I am afraid to uninstall Outlook and reinstall for fear of losing all my info.
I am on a ship at sea for the next 3 months with no internet resources except my husband to relay e-mail (once a day) so any advice is appreciated.

Suggestions? I will email all responses to Michele, but she only receives email once a day and can respond the next day. She is presently midway between Hawaii and Costa Rica.
Thanks everyone!!
I'll try my best here. Profiles can be used for both networking and non-networked Windows computers. I'm guessing that the profile for the Win98 computer is not quite completely configured for Michele. It doesn't matter if the HotSync Manager shows your correct Palm user name-- the other end (in this case, Outlook), has no knowledge of you, for lack of a better analogy.
If you haven't done so, try this:
1) Create a new profile on the Windows 98 computer. One way is to go to the Control Panel and open the Mail applet.
2) When the Mail applet opens, look at the Window Title of the application. It might say "xxxxxx Properties", where the xxxxxx might be the name of the original user. If you see that, don't worry because...
3) Look for the "Show Profiles..." button and click on that (it should be near the lower third of the application window).
4) The window should change to "Mail" and you might only see one entry in the large window in the middle. And that entry might be the original user's name. If that's the case, do not remove the entry. Instead, click on the "Properties" button.
5) Wait a minute! The Properties box is what you originally saw when you first opened the Mail applet! Don't worry-- I had you go through those steps so that you didn't inadvertantly trash your access to Outlook.
6) Jot down (as in, on paper) the "services" shown in the Properties window. I'm taking a guess here, but it might say, "Personal Folders" and "Personal Address Book". If that's the case, go on to #7. If not, you'll have to let us know what the other services names are.
7) Click on Cancel. This should return you back to window you saw on step 4.
8) Now click on "Add". A window pops up asking you which services you want to use. If you saw "Personal Folders" and "Personal Address Book" for the original user, choose those two services. When you're done, click on the "Next" button.
9) Here, you may get a window asking you to type a new name for this profile. Enter in your name. Then click on "Next".
10) I think here at this point, you are returned to the "Mail" window and you should see two profile names-- the original user and your name. Look towards the bottom third of that screen and you should see an option to select which profile to use when starting Microsoft Outlook. Change that to your profile name.
11) Click on Close and start Outlook. MS Outlook might tell you that you're a new user and go through some set up routine. Go through the motions and set the stuff up.
12) Once Outlook is set up to start with your profile, you _May_ have to reinstall PocketMirror so that it can now recognize the new profile and link it to the HotSync Manager. Be careful here and if necessary, change the sync action to have the Handheld Overwrite Desktop so that you don't lose the information on your Visor.
One other thing...
To Michelle's liaison--
Search the discussions on "Outlook" and/or "PocketMirror" and you might find some past messages that touches on switching users and the like.
Thanks ProjectZero!
I could not follow you response technically but I copied it verbatim to Michele. Thanks! I'll check out those other topics also, but I'm not sure I would recognize which ones are pertinent!
Thanks ProjectZero!
From Michele at Sea:
It'll take a while to try all that "Project Zero" suggested. I am glad you thanked him since he spent some time on that. What he says makes sense except that other programs synch OK - it's just Outlook. It's starting to bug me since I have tried to fix this for a while now. He's got a good sense of humor and seems to have guided folks before since it's quite detailed.
I'll keep you posted with her progress. She is the Commanding Officer of the ship so is quite busy. Thanks again!
To ProjectZero WRT VISOR Outlook hotsynch
Hope you see this ProjectZero. This is from Michele in an email tonight:
Thanks Project Zero for taking the time to write that response. Let me provide a little more info too for you which I ommitted and may be important. The Docs to Go does synch so IT knows who I am. The previous owner never used Outlook 2000 and I installed it when I took over the machine. I do not use Outlook for mail. I do not do any e-mail with my PDA. I do use Datebook 3 for my calendar.
I use the regular address book and To Do.
So I reviewed your instructions and I went into Control Panel/Mail and I seem to be looking at a different screen than you are. I see an "Internet accounts" title, a "Mail" tab, a small box with three columns entitled: "account", "type", "Connection" on the left and on the right I have a vertical row of buttons reading top to bottom: "Add", "remove", "properties", "set as default", "import", "export". I do not see "Show Profiles" at this point.
So I forged ahead and clicked on Properties. I did not see this box when I originally opened Mail. It shows me tabs entitled; general, servers, connection, Advanced, IMAP. I go to general tab and asks me: Mail Account ____, User ifnormation: Name____, org ___, e-mail address, reply address. At bottom it has a check box; "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing". I enter in the data and check the synchornization box. I don't see any "services" or show profiles box.. There is no option for "personal folders or personal address".
So I add my name anyway. No window pops asking me what services I want. What I see is Internet connection wizard, asks me for a display name which I enter as my user
name. Next it asks for my e-mail address, then e-mail server names. I enter in all info except for server names I enter garbage (xxxx).
I did not see any screen to select which profile to use when starting MS Outlook.
So I did all that, reinstalled Pocket Mirror and still get same errors shown below. I am ready for any more thoughts you may have if you have the time and patience. - Michele

Re: To ProjectZero WRT VISOR Outlook hotsynch
Hi Michele and thanks for the added information.
Keep in mind: Eventhough DTG knows who you are, DTG is not the same as Outlook. Which is a good thing because it tells me that the HotSync installation is working--- it recognizes your Visor and recognizes everything but Outlook.
Since the previous owner didn't use Outlook 2000, it sounds like your Outlook installation is what Microsoft refers to as an "Internet Only" install. If you run Outlook and click on Tools->Options, see if there is a tab with the name of "Mail Services". If you do not see this tab, then your installation is an internet-only install (irregardless if you are or are not using Outlook for E-Mail).
In fact, if you do not see the Mail Services tab, then I would undo the stuff you did when you went into the Control Panel/Mail and created a new Internet account (which is what you did when you forged ahead and didn't see what dialog boxes that I was referring to. What you did there was create the ability for Outlook 2000 to send/receive Internet mail when you should not have done so). I don't know the long-term ramifications of what you did here-- since you use a different E-Mail package, it could be as benign as having just another E-Mail program installed on your Win98 computer.
If you want to return your Outlook 2000 installation to a state before you inadvertantly added Internet access, you can do this:
1) Go back to the Control Panel/Mail applet.
2) Click once on account name that you created.
Note: The title may have the added text of " (default) " appended to it. That's OK and I would expect it there.
3) Click on the "Remove" buton on the right hand side.
4) Windows will ask you if you want to delete that profile.
5) Click on "Yes"
At this point, you should not have anything listed in the "Internet Accounts" dialog box. If you do see something else listed in this dialog box, stop right here, don't do anything else and report back what you see and let me know if you have anything important stored in Outlook 2000.
If you do not see anything else listed in the Internet Accounts dialog box, then continue to read on.
I am guessing that the version of PocketMirror you are using is not version 2.0.5 or later. Probably 2.0.3 or 2.0.4. You can check the version of PocketMirror by clickling on "Start/Programs/PocketMirror/PocketMirror Settings". Then click on the green icon in the upper left hand corner. Click on "About". If it's not 2.0.5 or later, then you (and your husband) will have to do the following:
1) Your better half will have download the most current update for PocketMirror from the Chapura site (here's the link). The one he needs to download is the one that says "PocketMirror 2.0.5 Update" under the English section.
Unfortunately, the file is over 2 MB in size and that's a pretty big chunk to send across wireless E-Mail. But hey, if it's allowed, go for it :-) It it isn't, you might have to have someone here on land get you that file on a CD-R or multiple floppies via conventional mail-- if that's allowed.
Note: The Chapura site will ask you to "register" and the file is a little over 2 MB in size.
2) Once you've obtained this file (it will be a .EXE file), do not run it yet.
3) Stop and exit the HotSync Manager.
4) Run Outlook 2000 to ensure you can still get into Outlook and access the calendar, Contacts, Notes, and Tasks. Exit Outlook.
5) Run that update file that you downloaded from Chapura.
6) The update file will update the necessary components. It may tell you to reboot after it is done updating. If it doesn't, that's OK. I would still reboot the computer after the update is completed.
7) After the update is completed, run Outlook. You should see a green icon that looks like a PalmPilot on the Outlook menu task bar (horizontal, not the vertial Outlook bar).
Click on it (you might have to select your user name) and select "Settings" button.
8) From the "Change Synchronization Preferences" screen, click on the "Quick one-time action setup" drop-down box, and select "Handheld overwrites Outlook".
9) Close out of Chapura Settings.
10) Synchronize!
If the HotSync dialog box does not show errors, look at the Outlook calendar, contacts, notes and tasks and see if your Visor information is there.
------------------------------------
Now, here's some "What ifs"
Q1: What if you do see version 2.0.5 for PocketMirror?
A1: You will have to change your Outlook 2000 configuration to what Microsoft calls, "Corporate/Workgroup" mode. According to Chapura, they have seen problems with the "Internet only" installation that you currently have with your installation of Outlook. It could be that under NT, your Outlook installation was installed as Corporate/Workgroup and perhaps that's why it worked. The steps to change Outlook over to Corporate/Workgroup below require the Office 2000 CD. If you don't have it, then see next question.
1) First, I would exit HotSync Manager and uninstall PocketMirror.
2) In Outlook, click on "Tools/Options".
3) Click on the "Mail Delivery" tab, and at the bottom click on the "Reconfigure Mail Support" button.
4) Change the setting to "Corporate/Work Group mode".
5) Select "Yes" to the dialog box, and Outlook will shut down automatically.
6) Restart Outlook and you will be prompted for the Office 2000 CD, and the installation will finish.
7) Reinstall PocketMirror.
Q2: You don't have the Office 2000 CD.
A2: Until you get the Office 2000 CD, you won't be able to use Outlook 2000 with your Visor. In the meantime, I would revert back to using the Palm Desktop (you'll have to uninstall PocketMirror) so that you can back your Visor data to your computer.
Q3: Your version of PocketMirror is not 2.0.5 and you do have the Office CD. But your husband cannot get you the PocketMirror 2.0.5 update file to you because it's too big to send over E-Mail and he doesn't know how to get it on diskettes (or doesn't have a CD-R burner) to mail to me. Can you still try changing Outlook to Coporate/Workgroup?
A3: I wouldn't. But if feel adventurous, go ahead. Outlook does allow you to change back. If you have stuff in Outlook already, just make sure you back it up. If you feel like Ms. Adventure, do the steps I listed in Q1/A1 above.
Note to hubby: If you don't know how to get a 2MB file on a 1.44 MB diskette or you don't have a CD-R burner, let me know here and we'll discuss it off this board.
Hope this helps.

I do have a CR-Rom burner and if she needs that file I can get it and send it snail mail to Costa Rica.
If you want her email address (text only) email me at [email protected] and I will send it to her. That way you guys can communicate directly.
Thanks again for all your time!!

For ProjectZero
Just got this from Michele. I downloaded the Pocketmirror update and burned it on CD. She should have it Sept 29 or 30. This stuff is WAY over my head:
Wow! Thanks so much for putting all this time into helping me out. I am saving everything for future ref.
Well, remember the part where you asked me if I felt like being Ms. Adventurous? Let me start from the beginning of your last e-mail..
I had already gotten frustrated enough that I deleted Pocket mirror and reverted back to Palm Desktop Calendar and that all worked smoothly so I was ahead of ya on that one. It is certainly a workable situation that way so obviously I am
not desparate. My remarks are after the ****:
Since the previous owner didn't use Outlook 2000, it sounds like your Outlook installation is what Microsoft refers to as an "Internet Only" install. If you run Outlook and click on Tools->Options, see if there is a tab with the name of "Mail Services". If you do not see this tab, then your installation is an internet-only install (irregardless if you are or are not using Outlook for E-Mail).
***I only see Mail Delivery and Mail Format tabs, no Mail Services so I guess that means I have Internet
If you want to return your Outlook 2000 installation to a state before you inadvertantly added Internet access, you can do this:
1) Go back to the Control Panel/Mail applet.

3) Click on the "Remove" buton on the right hand side.
4) Windows will ask you if you want to delete that profile.
5) Click on "Yes"
At this point, you should not have anything listed in the "Internet Accounts" dialog box. **** Correct. Hooray!
*****Did the above steps satisfactorily
If you do not see anything else listed in the Internet Accounts dialog box, then continue to read on.
****At this point I noted that there is a Note in the Outlook folder list called Pocket Mirror. I open the file and it says "Michele Please don't delete this note or folder. It is used by Pocket Mirror to keep record of which Handheld(s)are allowed to synch with this Outlook Profile. Dated 9/8/00 I though this was a good thing and it seemed like maybe Putlook knew what account to synch with. My account name is Michele by the way.
****So I reinstalled Pocket Mirror after I removed the Internet account. It did then update the date on the above note after a failed hotsynch where I tried Handheld overwrites Tasks. Still get the same type of error message as before from Hotsynch mgr. Despair looms....
*******O.K. I have Pocket Mirror v 2.0.4b BUT It just ocurred to me that we have Win 98 at home and my Visor synched just fine there with that version and Outlook 2000. Is the plot thickening?????
Unfortunately, the file is over 2 MB in size and that's a pretty big chunk to send across wireless E-Mail. But hey, if it's allowed, go for it :-) It it isn't, you might have to have someone here on land get you that file on a CD-R or multiple floppies via conventional mail-- if that's allowed.
****Yep 2MB is way too big mainly due to cost. We use satellite to up and download and it is several dollars a minute at 9600 modem. SO I have asked Cliff to burn it on a CD and send it to me at my next port call at the end of the month in Costa Rica. He is very computer literate so it shoudln't be any problem.
------------------
Now, here's some "What ifs"
Q2: You don't have the Office 2000 CD.
****I do have it onboard.
Q3: Your version of PocketMirror is not 2.0.5 and you do have the Office CD. But your husband cannot get you the PocketMirror 2.0.5 update file to you because it's too big to send over E-Mail and he doesn't know how to get it on

**** SO have we ever met before? How did you know I'd go for this one? Here's what happened...it's kind of interesting....
I did the above adventurous steps. I now have a duplicate of my e-mail messages from Lotus CCMAIL in Outlook Mail. I haven't gotten a download of e-mail yet so I don't knwo what will happen. As long as it duplicates the msgs in both I am
OK but if it puts new msgs in Outlook and not into CCMAIL then I must remove Outlook Mail. Am I safe in assuming it is not duplicating my entire mailbox with separate files for Outlook thereby taking up twice as much space on my hard
disk?
Then I try to hotsynch and get an error:
PM for Outlook menu screen
Error message with the red x in the circle.
Unable to create Folder when synchronizing calendar.
I clicked OK and it continued to synch tasks, contacts etc. with no further errors. In the hot synch log I now see a different type of error message:

*****Duh..Now what? Two things:
1) Why does same version of Mirror work Ok on our Win 98 PC at home? I'll ask
Cliff to check and see if we have the Corporate/Workgroup config. I will also
ask him for a copy of my last hotsynch log I ddi at home to see if it truly did
work properly.
2) What does the change in error msg at this point mean?
When I go into Outlook Today and try to open calendar I get an error:

Internet Explorer cannot open the outlook:calendar
The specified protocol is unknown.
When I look at MS Outlook at the top it says:
Michele Bullock ccMAIL Mailbox - Microsoft Outlook and it never said that before.
I feel like I may have dug myself deeper....
I just went back into Outlook and Tools/Options and I do not see Mail Delivery, just Prefernces/Mail Services/Mail Format/ etc. So that means I am still in Workgroup mode. Right?
******Hey wanna come to Costa Rica?
SO I have unistalled Mirror and am using Palm Desktop. Am tempted just to reinstall Outlook one more time and try everything all over from scratch, but it's late and tomorrow's another day. Thanks again and I'll understand if you give up. You have been very helpful, you've spent a lot of time on this and I have a workable system anyway with Palm Desktop and Datebook 3. - Michele
Hi Cliff and Michele,
Thanks for your words of thanks. I don't get much of an opportunity to troubleshoot these days so it's a nice change of pace.
That note you saw in Outlook is what PocketMirror uses to enable its fancy magic. What it says in the note is absolutely correct. It also tells me that PocketMirror installed correctly but still ain't functioning with Outlook 2K
I would have Cliff check how your home computer's installation of Outlook looks like--- Internet Only or Corporate/Workgroup-- use the same criteria I listed my earlier message. If the home computer is set for Internet Only, then I'd go with Chapura's recommendation to change your ship computer's Outlook installation to Corporate/Workgroup-- you may be running a different set of software on the work computer, that reacts or changes your Windows enviroment enough to cause PocketMirror to work at home but not at work computer (you mentioned you're also using cc:Mail at sea-- very rarely do I find home users running cc:Mail. That product alone can create enough differences on your work computer--- more on that below).
Re: Changing to Coporate/Workgroup.
I'm guessing you're using cc:Mail Release 8.x. (probably 8.2 or 8.3? 8.4 and 8.5 behave a little different). cc:Mail R8 uses the Microsoft MAPI stuff to do its magic (the mail profile thingy I referenced a few messages ago). O2K's Corporate/Workgroup also uses MAPI. Unfortunatenly, or fortunately, depending on your point of view, only one MAPI profile can be in use (active). So, when you enabled Corporate/Workgroup, what you're actually seeing is your cc:Mail local mailbox through Outlook. It should not be duplicated, it's just another way of accessing it.
And I should congratulate you because I've met a lot of folks who had a hard time trying to see their cc:Mail inbox in Outlook and you did it rather quickly
IMHO, you should only use one program to access your inbox-- and for now, that should be cc:Mail, since it created the local database. There really isn't a problem in using Outook to send/receive your cc:Mail messages, it's just that you don't get the benefits of the cc:Mail rules, filters and database integrity checks (the Analyze mailbox functions) if you use Outlook.
You can "turn off" Outlook's access to your cc:Mail mailbox. It's through the Control Panel/Mail applet. Go through the steps I mentioned a couple of messages back to access your mail profile (you should have one now). In the "Services" window, you should see a service named something like "cc:Mail Service" or close to that. Remove it. That should prevent Outlook from seeing your cc:Mail stuff.
You should also see a service called Personal Folders and Personal Address Book. If you don't, then you need to add it (go back to my first response to you on how to add it).
If you don't see anything relevant in the Control Panel/Mail applet, don't start removing stuff-- type back to me what you do see there.
The new HotSync errors you're getting is probably the result of PocketMirror looking for the Outlook Personal Folders file (*.PST) but it found your cc:Mail database (Uxxxxxx, CCPODD, CCPODS, CCPOMI, CCPOMS) instead and tried to access it the Outlook Way. Of course, no can do-- Lotus isn't Microsoft :-) However, you're not getting any MAPI errors which tells me the Corporate/Workstation switch over solved that problem. I'm hoping that when you add the Personal Folders & Personal Address Book service, it'll satisfy PocketMirror.
Re: When I go into Outlook Today and try to open calendar I get an error...
That pretty much confirms my suspicions that all you need now is to add the Personal Folders and Personal Address Book services. Outlook is currently looking directly into your cc:Mail database. And yes, seeing the Preferences/Mail Services/etc. in Tools->Options does indicate you are in the Corporate/Workgroup mode. If adding the Personal Folders/Personal Address Book to Outlook doesn't resolve this, then the update is probably necessary due to the MAPI files cc:Mail put in during its installation. If it comes down to that, continue to use the Palm Desktop until you get the CD from Cliff.
Re: ******Hey wanna come to Costa Rica?
Well, if I was still working for my old employer and your employer had a business relationship with my old employer, that could have been a possibility
From Michele for Project Zero
Hi Project Zero,
This came in from Michele. She has been busy but is making progress:
Hello PZ!
Well, Maybe I made progress - I think I did but it still ain't right yet. Excuse the delay here, but have been busy with a ceremony involved when a ship crosses the Equator - it's a nautical tradition to initiate those who have never
"crossed the line" before.
So I followed your last set of instructions.
Our home setup for Outlook is Internet only according to my husband. I don't recall ever doing anything to make it that way and perhaps it was the default.
So I made sure the ship's PC was on Workgroup and it still is.
I am using CCMAIL v. 8.41.00.12. I HATE CCMAIL. It has been very troublesome for us. We are supposed to switch over to Netscape but I hear that also is going to be difficult. It's different on ship's - we have one mailbox that everything comes into. Do you have experience with porting CCMAIL msgs into Netscape? Will I lose all my CCMAIL stuff when we convert? Oh well that is another matter and several months away.
I then reinstalled Pocket Mirror since I have been using Palm desktop.
I turned off CCMAIL access Outlook succesfully.
I added Personal Folders and Personal Address Book. I made a new profile called Michele - same as my VISOR name and made that the profile Outlook uses.
So now when I hotsynch I get:
HotSync operation started 09/17/00 17:22:29

Nothing else was open. Then I restarted the machine, opened nothing and tried again and got same error. I cannot figure what could be open and it STILL cannot locate my profile.
SO I have uninstalled PM and am back to Palm Desktop - not so bad. I am sure if you were here you could figure this out quickly and it's probably something stupid. I am learning a bitmore each day, but am out of ideas.
So I will continue to use Palm desktop until I get Cliff's CD update which will be in about 11 days. I'll let you know how things work out. Thanks for the help and your time. - Michele

A question: Is Outlook 2000 running when you attempt to HotSync?
The error messages, although you're still getting them, are getting a little more specific-- which is a good thing as it helps narrow down the problem.
I think we've narrowed it down to one of two problems (or both. The first is that you really need the PocketMirror 2.0.5 update.
The other, which you can try is that *if* you don't have O2K running, PocketMirror cannot locate your personal folders and sync with it. In most cases, you shouldn't have to have O2K running to sync (but I always have to, thanks to some custom Exchange process I'm running here).
If you're not running O2K when you HotSync, try it again with Outlook running. If you've already done that, then in Outlook under the Tools Menu/Options/Other/Advanced/Com Addins..., look for these two items:
- Outlook Backup Addin
- Outlook Synchronization
Toggle them off and close Outlook and attempt to HotSync again with Outlook closed.
Hope that helps.
As for migrating from cc:Mail client Release 8 to Netscape Navigator/Communicator, I'm presuming you have folks on land that will handle the server side of things--- all you need to be concerned with is how to convert the local messages over.
Unfortunately, Netscape currently does not offer a utility to convert cc:Mail client information to Communicator-- just the cc:Mail LAN-based post office (and only DB6/R6 post office only).
Your mail administrator staff (or you) will have to obtain a client-side utility to convert the mobile clients in the field. If no thought has been given by management as to how to convert (or they're trying to do this by themselves), may I suggest two consulting firms (www.jconsult.com and http://www.gssnet.com) that specialize in mail migration. I have no monetary interest in these two companies, other than I've worked with the principals and consultants of these two firms. I *think* gssnet.com may have a free cc:Mail-to-Netscape client conversion utility but I'm not entirely sure.
OK, enough of the advertisement. Will you lose your messages when you convert? I'd be a real fool if I said "no". There's always a possibility that messages (and/or address book information) may be lost or managled. Whomever is doing to upgrade should make sure a backup is made of the local post office (\lotus\ccmail) and that you can also restore from that backup should the conversion process fail. Anyone who guarantees that the process is fool proof is putting up smoke and mirrors and really hasn't performed many cc:Mail-to-Netscape migrations.
To PZ from Michele
Hi PZ!
Well I tried the last set of instructions. I checked for the Outlook Backup addin and Outlook synchronization items and neither were present - in fact nothing was in there so I guess there was nothing to do. Then I reinstalled PM. I set O2K to Workgroup (it was back on Internet for some reason). I then hotsynched with O2K running (I think I usually did that but made sure this time). Got same errors as last time. So looks like I wait for PM update. The
error msg does confuse me. What other program could be using that file???? I have had a number of PC crashes so I have rebooted several times between my last two attempts so if there was something hung up accessing the file it would have been terminated with the reboot I guess. We get to Costa Rica on 9/29 and I may be busy for a while, but I'll get back to you with results. Thanks very much for your patience and interest. - Michele

For ProjectZero from Michele
Michele inported in Puntarenas, Costa Rica last week and is underway again, next stop Callao, Peru in three weeks. She just sent this by email after getting the CD via snail mail:
I just got the Pocket Mirror update installed and hotsynched right off the bat. Piece of cake. That was it all along! Thanks so much for all your help, time and patience. - Michele (hundreds of miles off Ecuador)
Thanks PZ!!!
