-- Connected Yesterday now "No Connection" (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=15911)

Angry

First had a bad cable. Got that replaced and connected to my ISP using Verzion, Handspring Deluxe, and Startac 7868W phone. Yesterday I was wirelessly snyching Avantgo when things locked up and since then when I try to connect the phone dials the number but I get the message, "No Connection".

My phone indicates a strong digital signal.

I have connected to my ISP with my laptop and phone line since the "No Connection" problem.

I have dialed the ISP number with my cell phone okay.

Do you use an external keyboard? If so, try turning off the driver before connecting. If not, try a soft reset. It's possible that your serial port is locked open.

Soft Reset Doesn't work

I thought about that and tried the soft reset but it didn't help. I amnot using a keyboard.

Would a hard reset possibly be required?

It does dial and sometimes it even seems to try to initiate a connection.

It doesn't sound like it needs a hard reset.

If it's dialing and attempting to connect, the problem is either on the ISP's end or perhaps you're network/connection prefs need to be looked at.

I'm glad someone else is reporting this problem. It has happened to me enough times that I've been thinking that there is a short or a connector problem with my Supplynet cable. It usually works after I try again, again, and again. Reset doesn't help -- just trying again. It is a "no modem found" error that I get after using a number or applications and just connecting from Preferences. The very next day, I'll hook things up and everything works fine.

Maybe there is a simple software fix.

Angry Connected and then down again

Well after trying a couple tryies it connected again. It synched with Avantgo (not sure it completed everything). I also used Eudora for email and even Eudora Web briefly. Then I tried to connect again and same problem. No Connection. The phone beeps indicating it is physically connecting. It seems to dial. Wish I could figure this out.

Are you guys recieving "No Carrier"?

I get that sometimes and I've figured its something to do with all the modems on a tower being in use or none of them active (ex: for maitenance). But if this is a hardware problem with SupplyNet cables then perhaps we should contact them.
