Question Help: E-mail / Prism / Local ISP / Xircom Modem

Wondering if there's anyone out there who can help me out...

I've got a Visor Prism / Xircom 56k Modem combo, and I want to be able to send & receive e-mails when I travel by using my local ISP's dial up number.

Is there anyone out ther who's doing this? Would you be willing to give me some tech assistance so that I can get this set up??

I'm not interested in surfing the web with this combo, just accessing e-mail.

Thanks to anyone who'll help!

Josef

Josef:

I'm not using the Xircom modem -- I have a VisorPhone that works as a modem. But the setup should be pretty similar.

The first thing you need to do is to setup your dial-up connection. Go to Prefs, select the network screen, and then add a new connection by selecting Service | New from the menu.

Also, have you selected a program to use as your e-mail client? If not, I would suggest starting with Eudora, which is available for free. (FYI, their site is unreachable at the moment.) If you find there are some things that Eudora does not support, such as attachments, there are several other alternative clients.

Also, if you need more help, try posting a more specific question.

Does your ISP have any special instructions for people that run non-Windows operating systems? If so, you may be able to adapt those instructions to your PDA. Also, this article from Handspring's site may be of some help.
