-- Visorphone Serial Number (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=19287)
Visorphone Serial Number
I went to Handspring website to download the new Blazer 2.0 update. It asks for my Visorphone Serial Number, which I gladly typed away... Just to get a response "Sorry this is an invalid number".
IT'S NOT! What kind of joke is this?
Anyway, received an e-mail from Handango, with a link to dowload the updated version (bought from Handango before buying a Visorphone, so I have two official copies!)
I had the same problem. Then I used my Visor Deluxe Serial number, and it worked!
Kind of odd, considering that this will allow anyone with a Visor, even people without VisorPhones, to dowload Blazer 2 for free.
Sounds like a blunder by Handspring's web division.

It's a blunder because this program is only free for previously registered users, or owners of the VisorPhone. Allowing anyone with a deluxe serial number to download this opens the door for anyone else who has a third-party modem.
In other words, why should Handango and PalmGear have to charge for this program when anyone with a Visor can just nab it for free?

True. Blazer 2.0 is free to previous owners or Visorphone owners. If you bought it through PalmGear or Handango (like I did before buying my Visorphone) you'll receive an e-mail with download instructions.
In my case, before receiving the e-mail I went to the website, and it failed to recognize the VP serial number.
Someone suggested to use my Prism serial number, but by then I had downloaded the update from Handango.
To my surprise I got an e-mail from Handspring support with this:
"I gather that you are having difficulty downloading the blazer 2.0 using the visorphone serial number. Please try your visor's serial number."

quote:Because when you sold something that's non-refundable then it's extra revenue. Blazer wasn't designed for exclusive Visorphone use. The apps are independent of the VisorPhone. It's just software, and free advertising for Handspring. No blunder. VP serial numbers just as Solo's, Edge's before them.. they're not perfect. There are so many variables involved.
