Visorphone- service covered in Omaha?
1. Can we still get Visorphones?
2. If so (or I can get one used), can it be used in Omaha? Something I read somewhere hinted that it could not, or that some portion of it could not.
I looked into GSM coverage a while back for one of my co-workers here in Lincoln and couldn't find anyone that provided service in Nebraska. That was 6 months ago, things may have changed. If you are just primarily concerned with Omaha, your chances are probably better than Lincoln & points west.
He wanted the same connectivity that I get with my StarTac / cable / VPL using Alltel. He ended up going with AT&T and an SMS enabled phone, and then hacked script together on his Linux box that forwards some messages to his SMS (High priority, subject line contains "Help", etc..). Works well, except he lost the charger to the phone!

I live in Omaha and got your answer
No GSM here. It stop's in Des Moines, IA and Starts up again in Denver, CO. But What I did was use my SamSung Phone with SprintPCS and I have a cable that hooks from my Prism to my phone. It works great.
Guess What last week I went and bought the SB3000 (Sprint Digital Link) it is a CDMA version of the Visor Phone. SprintPCS offers it. So far I am happy. It works great. (I'll sell you my SamSung cable for $20 if you want it.) I have two one is a spare.
