-- Nokia 7160 to Handspring Prism (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=12860)
Anyone get an IR connection to work between the two? Mine tries 2 times and then says Error: Modem command error. Check Modem Preferences (0x1105) Anyone know what that means??

I've never heard of anyone using a TDMA phone for internet access with a PDA. With other carriers, you have to enable data service with them so you should look into that.

Data is enable on the phone as i can use it as a modem on my laptop and can dial in with it.
Wireless access with a laptop doesn't necessarily mean wireless access is possible with a PDA, which is why I said I've never heard of anyone using a TDMA phone for wireless access with a >>PDA<<. I know it is not possible to link the Nokia 5160 or Nokia 6160 to the visor due to the lack of hardware flow control on the visor's part, even though both phones can be used for wireless access with a laptop. This may also be the case with the 7160 (maybe).

Hi,
I'm also trying to use my Visor Deluxe to use my Nokia 7160 as a modem. Since the phone is a PnP modem, why would it make a difference if a laptop or a PDA was using it?
I'm using IRLink, and it can see the phone just fine (test device). But whenever I attempt to make a connection to my ISP, the phone immediatly "fast busys" (8 beeps).
This is the first limitation of the Visor since I replaced my IIIx about a year ago. Hopefully this can get resolved.
Cheers,
--- Gavin
