Question Help w/Motorola v60+Prism ISP connection

Hello,

I have a Motorola v60c, a Prism and a USB cable that connects the two. How would I set up my Visor to use the cell as a wireless modem? I tried calling the ISP manually on the cell but can't authenticate upon the server answering. What am I doing wrong?

You can search the boards, as there has been many discussions on the subject of connecting Visors to cell phones, or use the links below:

One thing to look out for is the Springboard. If you have a modem or other communications module in the slot at the time, your modem cable will not work.

My set up is a StarTac / Platinum / ISP. The instructions there worked like a charm, and the v60c should be the same.

Interestingly enough, I can connect with my Visor Deluxe. Unfortunately, my Prism gives me a "modem not found" error.

In the Prefs>Connection>Edit...> do you have the Connection Method set to Serial to Modem?
Do you have a SpringBoard installed?

Flow Ctl: Automatic
Init string: AT&FX4

Query DNS: Y
IP Address: Automatic

I think this is your problem. I believe for HandSprings this need to be set to Off.

Other than that, your settings are identical to mine.

I've tried setting it to Off and On before to no avail. Is it possible that the cable I have is only compatible with the Deluxe and not the Prism?

Talking

I just found the problem: the damn connection on the cord. Wiggling it got the Prism to recognize my cell. Apparently, the plug sits more securely in my Deluxe.

Thanx for your help!

I am not aware of that being a problem. According to TheSupllyNet they sell the same cable for all of the Visor products.

Is there something you need to enable on the v60c to allow it to act as a modem?

Grasping at straws here...
