Seeking Plain Old LAN Adapter?
I have searchhed Hi and Low. I have seen the cradle and the Xircom Wireless unit. But is not just a plain old, cat5 springboard ethernet adapater out there - one that uses a wire and tcpip so I could do such things as a network hotsync and access the internet over our corp. DSL line?
Thanks
RS

Xircom had announced one and then scrubbed it. Other than the Portsmith Cradle, there is no wired lan option for the Visor. I guess everyone (developers) figured tying the Visor to a wire was impractical... but I'd bet there's at least a few hundred members here who could use one right now (waving my hand!).__________________

I was beginning to figure as much. That is too bad, since there is already an IP stack in the OS and a network hotsync option on the desktop. The cradle looks like it is designed to be used as a hotsync station, and the wireless unit, though certainly capable, is a bit $pendy (not to mention I'd need a wireless base station). I guess the thinking is that if you are near a LAN you are near a PC and have other options. I have a multipoint VPN and was going to use it to sync my visor in seattle with my PC in alaska...
Thanks for the information. Maybe I'll include that capability into my not-yet patented 32MB memory upgrade module with integrated modem and voice recorder. Oh that'll be the day.
Cheers,

I better get to work on the external battery pack...
Wired Ethernet on Palms
Storm -
I don't know about the new Palms or Sony, but the TRGPRO and Handera 330 support CF ethernet cards both wired and wireless.
You can also get good prices from them occasionally on rebuilt units. Home web page for them (no, I don't work for them - although my parents own *two* of them now...)

quote:No can do... the Springboard interface is missing some key signals that prevent it from interfacing with existing CF peripherals. Not to mention the lack of software drivers...

Any chance one of those Ethernet CF cards would go into the MEMPLUG and someone would be able to write software to make it work?
