VisorPhone & Edge: Shameless request for testamonials, pix

Yep, HS has once again tempted me with the big offer. First it was the trade-in that made me ditch my Plat for an edge, and now it's the visorphone, released onto the world as I was on vacation.

Here's the thing, the one pic I saw of the Vphone and the Edge looked, well, BAD. I note that HS doesn't once show the Vphone with the edge on its site: is there a reason? I'm starting to think that I should have just stuck with the plat, so that I could use the Vphone w/out shame & also keep my accessories.

1)Does anybody use the Vphone and the Edge together?
2)How does the Vphone allow you to directly dial contacts? I'm assuming it somehow replaces the standard datebook, right? Does this mean that Vphone=no fast lookup?
3)Do you like it?
4)Can you post more pix?
5)Does the Vphone speaker sit flush with the front of the edge?
6)Edge Mic work ok?
7)How thick is the whole combination?
8)Does the Vphone & sled stay securely on the Edge?
9)Other intangibles?

Heck, if you work in Downtown Minneapolis, I'll buy you lunch at a fast food place if you'll let me attach the phone to my edge & try it out!

Thanks in advance...

I will let you know in a couple of days how it works. Ordered it Friday with express shipping, so hope to have it by midweek?

I still have the Vdx, but THINK address book should work the same as always, just that it adds a 'dial' button to the options.

My biggest concern is whether I get good reception here in Duluth, MN

Guess I wouldn't switch to the Edge if this works out, as the thickness will be controlled by VisorPhone. May switch to the Prism once I determine how VP works.

Hope...hope...etc

Right, but the Edge has a modified Address book, and the Vphone also modified the address book, so....

In my experience, voicestream has very good coverage in duluth (though who knows when you get on the wrong side of them big hills).

That is reassuring! I live on top of the hill (Proctor), and Sprint seems to have a problem providing digital to this area. It is getting better, so they must be putting up more towers.

Biggest concern of the VP, is that it is digital only. Will have to wait and see how much of a problem this becomes.

Will also have to modify my cover again to accomodate the VisorPhone!
Darn!! Just got it working good too. Am working on one that opens to the left like a book.

Yeah, I *had* sprint and my wife has got Voicestream. VS has better coverage in Duluth.

I also was waiting for an analog band Visorphone, but maybe I don't care for $50!

BUMP!

bump.

Forget the request for pics, info, and anything else, just tell me this:

Does anybody use the Edge + Vphone, or even know of someone who does?

I've decided to buy, I think, but I haven't had any testimonials, good or bad. I suppose that fact that nobody's tried it is testimonial enough. I know that the whole point of the edge is ruined by strapping on a Vphone, but I don't need a Vphone in all the time, it would sit in my bag most of the time (as opposed to the edge, which never leaves my person)... sigh.

Anyone, Anyone, Bueller?

I use the VisorPhone with my VDX, but out of curiosity I plugged it into my wife's Edge. It works fine, but definitely clunky. You would not want to keep this in there all the time. As a snap-in wireless modem, I suppose you could do worse.

If you like I can post some pictures tonight.

Got VP today!

Can't believe how simple the install was. Plugged in the recharger, turned on the phone, was activated within 2 minutes. Jumped right in with both feet and dialed up my ISP (QWest). Downloaded my email with no problems at all.

NOW, THIS IS THE WAY THINGS ARE SUPPOSED TO WORK!

dietrichbohn,

You were right about VS in Duluth. I get much better reception in Duluth than I normally get with Sprint. Only been a few minutes so far, but really like what I am seeing.

That would be beautiful... I would be much obliged...!

Hi dennisl,

What did you mean by "Clunky"? Also, how is the reception/talk quality of the phone?

Posted by dennisl on 07-25-2001 10:25 PM:

By clunky, I mean that it sticks out almost half an inch (7/16", just measured) from the back of your springboard sled, and makes the unit very top heavy.
I haven't actually used the phone in the Edge at all, and just a little in my VDX. The quality seems okay, not much different from the Ericsson CF768 I used before this.

Thanks Dennis....Do you have the ability to post a picture with it attached to the Edge?

I'm afraid I can't. My wife's out of town with the digital camera.
