Bluelight.Com free access goes RIP August 29

...meaning those who are using it as a free ISP with their Visors will be SOL.

See http://blsjcisp01.bluelight.com/ind...20Announcements for more details.

So, does that pretty much leave us with Juno?

I have a Thinmodem, but have not done much with it for a variety of reasons. My home access is Cox@Home cable modem. Supposedly, they offer a 'by the minute' phone access, but whenever I have tried to talk to them about it, they have tried to hook me up with a free service. Their list was so old it included Excite's free access!

Anyone know of a good cheap ISP that charges by the minute or is otherwise real cheap for this sort of thing?

I used to know an ISP that charged the phone line you use to dial up 7ish cents a minute, but can't remember the name. They do exist though. You don't need a user name, just dial the number and you get connected.

I still have a standby account that I got via my phone company, USwest now Qwest. It is $9.95 a month unlimited. I only have it for backup in case all else fails or I end up at a persons location that for some reason doesn't have net access.

I have no idea if they offer new accounts at that rate, I've had it for about 2 years. I looked on their web site and all I could find was something for about $12 a month.

This is just what I was interested in knowing about.

First, were you able to get Bluelight to work with visorphone? NetZero won't.
I'd be happy to pay them $8.95 a month. I hate the thought of paying $20 a month for the modest usage of wireless internet access. Unfortunately my normal isp is a cable modem and offers no dialup.

I haven't, however, been able to get bluelight to work.

Are you saying also that JUNO works? They also have a cut rate plan. That would be ok. I must say, though, I like Bluelight's simplicity and reliability of all the free services I've tried.
