-- Cell Phone v. Omnisky/YadaYada (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=12934)

Question

Anyone want to spell out the advantages/disadvantages of using the cell phone to connect vs. Omnisky or yadayada?

Besides, the obvious - connection via the hotsync port vs. springboard, are there any advantages?

Currently I use sprint, startac, & cable for visor. I pay $10/month but, I cant use my stowaway.

I've been thinking about going with Omnisky?

Good or bad idea?

Anyone?

I like omnisky becuase I can use my stowaway keyboard when I'm surfing the web or writing an e-mail.

I just hope they will release the color version of their software soon!

I haven't used the cell phone route (I have a YadaYada Minstrel S), but as I understand it under ideal conditions the Minstrel S is faster than most cell phones.

An advantage with the cell phone route is that you can connect to networks outside of the internet. RAS dialup, corporate connections, or Modem Hotsync.

I have, and use both options. Combined, I have all the connections I need at the moment (I would like to have wireless ethernet at home and work).

Since the speed of the cell phone is the same as yadayada
the only advantages i found over each is.

With my cell phone, i am able to actual surf the web on
a moving train. The problem is that it use up my minutes,
but only cost an additional $10.

With yadayada, time is unlimited, but loses connection
quickly on a moving train. But cost $40 a month.
