Unhappy

Well, consider yourself lucky if you're on Verizon. You can't get under the radar of Sprint PCS. When I tried to connect to Earthlink, the connection was immediately identified as "Data Call" and disconnected in five seconds.

Without knowing too much about it, my guess is that you need a cell phone with an on-board modem to make the connection work without Wireless Web, regardless of whether it's on Verizon or Sprint PCS (yes, contradicting my first statement). Maybe it's time for me to get a new phone. I was holding out for the AirPrime SB1000 CDMA VisorPhone, but who knows when that'll be released.

Post Using Verizon QNC

Just to clarify, I am currently using Verizon QNC (Visor Prism, Motorola V8160, Cables4PDAs cable) without having Wireless Web or an ISP. It works perfectly for web browsing with Blazer, AvantGo modem sync, and receiving e-mail. The only thing I cannot do is sent e-mail using my regular SMTP server. There is a previous post with some workarounds which I have not tried yet.

From what everyone tells me, the modems on CDMA networks are on the network towers, not in the phones. Verizon's network recognizes the data call, but just charges you regular airtime minutes for it.

The Palm OS version on the Visor Deluxe is also not upgradeable.

If you put 00,#777 as the number it will dial it but it then disconnect. We're working with Verizon on this.
Do you have another ISP you can use in the meantime?

I'm using Verizon, a Deluxe, a Kyocery 2035a, and the SupplyNet cable. This configuration worked with my platinum and I made the mistake of replacing my stolen platinum with a refurb deluxe since I've always wanted the ice/blue case.

I've tried dialing 00 and then using a connection script as shown here:

http://www.area.com/laird/visor/ver...m_userguide.pdf

This doesn't work for me for some reason.

I'm getting really frustrated with Handspring on this issue. I can't get anyone in the handspring support hierachy to confirm or explain why #number is being trapped in 3.1h. There is a complete lack of documentation relating to PalmOS 3.1h.

Anyone have any pointers?

Rgds,

Alan

We currently have cables is stock for this phone. We are working with Verizon to find a solution for the phones that are not working. For now you will have to use a dialup connection when using the Visor/Visor Deluxe.

Is there any cable for Audiovox CDM8100 phone to Visor Prism?
Phone connected to Clearnet/Telus digital PCS.

Posted by rberkey on 09-06-2001 02:16 PM:

The CDM8100 uses the same cable as the 9100.

We have it listed on our web site as part # 12008H and is in stock.

That's great. Do you shipping to Canada?

And by the way, do you have any response from customers with 8100 phone? Will phone work for sure or not? I saw some posting here that phome may not work even with good cable...

Posted by rberkey on 09-06-2001 04:20 PM:

Yes we do ship to Canada.

I've been told by Audiovox it's the same cable but I haven't heard anything back from customers yet. It may be too new a model. We do not have that model to test.

Hmm. Did you say that 8100 is newer then 9100? Sound strange for me.

I would like to buy 8100 cable but if it will not work may I return it to you or replace to something else?

Of course. If Audiovox is wrong and it doesn't work we'll give you a full refund.

Please let me knnow back either way.

So. Connector on cable I've got from Supplynet is completely different then on Audiovox CDM-8100 device I've seen in store.

What we will do now?
